AielloA
I've been looking all through the Nexus for something like this, but apparently there is not a single mod with a powerful Illusion Magic follower - I don't want Destruction Magick or anything, cause I can kill stuff myself, thank you very much ;) But, apparently, people hate the idea of making Illusion/Restoration supporting (i.e. healing/buffing/crowd-control) followers, despite the fact that this would be awesome for anyone who enjoys a berserker playstyle. I have no idea how the CK works or else I'd try to do this myself, so if anyone else wants to give it a shot, that'd be great.
veescope
This kind of follower would be perfect for me. Adding my interest in this kind of mod!
Arimikami
I think it might be more the difficulty in getting a NPC to operate in that manner. There are a couple follower mods that have healer NPCs in them. You might be able to DL one of those and modify it so they buff you with illusion spells. Vamyan
No promises now, but I think I'm going to take this project under my wing. If I manage to get something usable, I'll pass on the code and info to some of the other major follower creators so they can do wonderful things also. Stay tuned! Arimikami
If you manage to figure out how to do this, I'd appreciate it if you make a thread to talk about it as I've got a follower I've been tinkering with that's a heavy magic user and it'd be nice to have them be able to do more than set stuff on fire or electrocute it. Vamyan
Well, my plans involve a heavily scripted, maybe even 100% scripted AI... I got the basics started with some changes to vanilla spells and those put into form lists to apply at various levels... and then got distracted by other things. I'll be posting updates here as I go I think.
Vamyan
Progressing apace on new follower healing/buffing AI -- Follower now heals player and should also heal allies! Next up, illusion, and maybe some custom alteration buffs... Ended up going with a combination of scripts/packages so the spellcasting animations and all would play, makes it much less "hacky" than the alternatives, though not quite as "responsive" (may be a bit of delay between needing a heal and getting a heal, but hey, immersion! It takes time to cast this stuff!)
Vamyan
Okay, I've got the basic "how to control a spellcaster" concept figured out, how about some ideas? What does an "Illusion follower" need to do, specifically? When? Under what circumstances?
tg08096
I wouldn't mind trying on something like this, but Vamyan seems to be on it, so I'll just offer my thoughts. One problem with illusion in that it just does not affect high enough level oppenents unless it is boosted with perks and dual cast. The way around this is to create a custom perk that modifies IllusionPowerMod and then apply that perk to the follower. As far as how to get the follower to do what you want it to do, this is a matter of giving the follower the necessary spells and then custom AI that places a high emphasis on spellcasting. "What would an Illusion follower do?" is the main question. Fear is the answer. As far as rally, calm, and frenzy, these "lesser" effects are only necessary to either provide balance for a character that would otherwise constantly scare the crap out of every single enemy, or to use these effects situationally via commands. The former is easy as pie, the latter is out of my league. One action that would be more interesting than tactical is the follower casting invisibility on itself. I have found through testing that if an enemy npc is given a potion in its inventory, it will use the potion more than once, even if only one potion is given, i.e., the potion respawns during battle. Note that the item given was a leveled list containing the potion, not the potion itself, not sure if this matters. Also, I am unsure if the same will happen with a follower. In case I have not been clear, I am talking about giving the follower an invisibility potion. Since illusion in skyrim is pretty bland (imho), I would make creative use of custom follower effects, such as a perk that would grant the follower a 20% chance to become invisible upon taking damage. None of these things require scripts, but what you want may require them, I don't know because Idk what it is you want exactly. I'm not sure if anything i've said means anything to anyone, but hey, I said it.
Erenussocrates
This might be a harder task for you, but I expect sneaking around in dungeons and casting frenzy spells on hostiles without being detected from an expert illusion player. So I would expect the same from a good illusionist follower too. Just saying. Your party HAS to stay undetected. Or else Illusion school doesn't do any effect at all.
