Are people running out of armor ideas?...

I'm in agreement with the OP. I just recently started playing Skyrim again after a long break and I've been looking for some better vanilla armors for my female character. Something that looks good (better than the burlap sacks of the vanilla armor) yet she doesn't look like she could be a stripper.

Agreeds, but sadly it'll probably never change as long as there are people who like chainmail bikinis, and those willing to make them. Blame the fact that, until 'recently' (well, is 20-ish years counted as 'recent'?) the vast majority of gamers and fans of fantasy are young males who like seeing naked women. And there are quite a few women who also like seeing their characters running around in bikinis. (It's...sexy?)

But, it does mean that mods that do consist of actual clothes and armours that don't look like lingerie, while rare, can be real gems. It does depend on how much time you're willing to search through the mods to find them, though. What I've found:

Armour:

CBBE Vanilla Outfits Conversion

Triss Armour Retextures.

Ranger Armour v3

Leatherbound Huntress.

Tali Armour.

Imperial Investigator.

Nightmare Armour

Torumekian Armour

Princess of the Woods

Wanderer Armour

Tribunal Robes

Xenius Armour Compilation

Drow Armour Set

Noldorian Lifeguard

Clothing:

Noble Female Clothes

Ashara Romantic Outfit

A Clothes

Saber Dress

Osare OnePiece

Osare GothicLolita

Queen of the Damned

Attire Pack

@imperium999, the car analogy might have been a bit extreme, but for someone who has never made a mod or used a 3D modeling app or had the skills or the time, it would most likely yield the same result.

The analogy is more like: a guy is giving away free tuna sandwiches on the street, and another guy walks up to him and says: "Dammit, man, I don't like tuna sandwiches, why don't you make some with anchovy?".

I agree with the OP too. It is however to do with the average age/sex of gamer/modder, but I just wish they could direct their talents for armour creation into something more original and unique. The same goes for male armours but on a different level. I just wish someone would take time to create unique lore friendly armours. There are a few good examples of this on Skyrim Nexus, but also there is lot of retexture this or/and recolour that. However, its free and I cant mod, so I take what rare gems I can find here. I found that once I figured out how to make Tag's actually do what they're supposed to do, the silly mods (no real offense intended but that's how I see them) disappeared for the most part from my mod searches.

You can find the tag blocker here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/users/tagpreferences

Simply select the tags that don't go in line with what you want and bam, insta awesome.

Actually I have started to play Skyrim again from scratch. And I am in a mood for immersive stuff now. Not too skimpy things (maybe a little bit like hide/fur bandit armors or Karleiah CBBE armor from Hentai/Nausica which I love a lot, so I upgraded it to support ingname weight slider). I am putting together an idea how to make the Ageha armor, I have converted/redone, more furry and more in style of the game. Skyrim is cold after all. :)

Oh and I love those bagpacks... not sure which mods are they comming from... immersive weapons perhaps?... Even NPCs wear them. Very immersive.
