TzToppDogg
Listen, I play with a bunch of mods (11.5 GB) but when I was playing Morrowind on the xbox, I didn't know that you could mod the game if you have a pc version. When oblivion came out I payd allmost 59,99 in american dollers for it, and after a week I started to mod it. Even with mods, I feel that Morrowind is a better game. Come on, who want to pay 60 bugs for a game that you have to mod to make it good? And I don't know if you feel it, but even as a mod-lover, i feel that it RUINS THE GAME LORE with all those changes. The mods that I run, is mostly mods that make oblivion more like it was in Morrowind (Mages guild teleport, remade soulgems) and stuff like that. Remember when you (SPOILER COMING UP!) was asked to get wood to a mages staff? You just walk down the cave when SUDDENLY necromancers killed the mages, and you had to wipe 'em out. Stuff like that could happen online. (SPOILER DONE) I got another one for ya.....You have heard of a dragon that is guarding a powerfull ring in the woods, but the dragon keeps killing everyone in the woods, and no one have yet succeded to kill it. Then you gear up, recharge your weapons, and head for the dragon, and if you manage to kill it, you would be famous to be the the "dragon slayer" among the other newbs who failed to kill it. Not only npc's but also real players will know you in that erea, how cool is that! About the artifacts. If you read the book in the game called "Tamrielic Artifacts ", you will notice that allmost every artifact, if not EVERY artifacts, is not bound to one person, but will travel from one to another. That will actually come true, as you could get robbed by other players, and IF you are robbed, you could report it to the guards, and the thieves would have a price on their head, and when they are arrested, you will get your item back. Its that easy. Right now, many games (EVERY GAME) that turned MMO have failed. I don't think that Bethesda would, because theire games is more different than the others, Warcraft 1-3 is kinda RTS, LOTR is original a book, and other games were just like any other average game. Its like that the games was NOT MEANT TO BE MMO'S, but cant you feel it in oblivion? Before all the other games turned mmo, Bethesda was the only one who was making games with big landscape, lots of caves and ruins, many npc's, lots of different regions, and provinces ergo, they have EXPERIENCE in making open-ended games that no other developer have. Bethesda is already skilled in games with HUGE worlds, and those worlds are soon to be too big for a single person.
dezdimona
lore, smore,I want "my game" my way.If your a purist well good for you,but not everyone feels that way. It won't happen,Bethesda knows how to market a game, bugs and all, they know modders will do what they didn't want to!
Zephyr2011
I cannot recall who said it but someone mentioned perhaps TWO releases of the game, a single player and an mmo, whichever floats your boat. If you REALLY wanted an mmo where all players were killable why not use the "Age of Conan" principle but sort of adapt it, you can only be killed if your over ____ level. I guess 2 versions wouldn't be that bad, but there would have to be a limit on the number of people per server, ie: no more than 500 or somethin, because if you get insane amounts of people it would totally ruin the game and it would also generate a ton of lag. There are mah revised thoughts. Also as for "purist" v. "mod-lover" I would fall in between (like many people I believe) in that I love mods, but not ones that completely disrupt the lore ::cough:: guns ::cough:: and oh and ::cough:: ghosts from halo ::cough:: I like a good mod like Belda Alysium, which just added a house that you had to find and had a little note from someone who was supposedly instructed by the emperor to ready a house for the savior of Cyrodiil, no real lore disruption but it adds a nice feature (albiet in need of a quest). nnyftw
If they do it the way that Ultima Online was done, then i'd be fine with it. But only as a separate project. If TESv ends up being an mmo, i'll be rather irate, absolutely refuse to play it, and repeatedly send Bethesda sealed boxes of my own feces. Once i get threatened with a harassment charge i'll get others to do it. They'll learn the lesson that is to be taught to them if indeed an mmo they make of TESv. I have spoken. (I'm not as serious as i sound, though i would be QUITE irate. x D )

SpacemanSpIiff
I wouldnt enjoy the MMO....But it would be nice to allow between 2 and 4 players in a single room on the PC version...but then no mods for online...and we all know generally how bad the game REALLY is without the nessesary mods to fix bethesda's bugs, glitches, and just in general really stupid decisions on their part (vanilla vampires....i rest my case)
maYuYang
Nope, no, no double NO!!! No MMOTESV. Whoever thinks of the benefits of a MMO, has to consider that there're major flaws:1. A MMO is never your game, if will always belong to the developers. Even though you buy it, you still have to pay in order to play. MMO's for free will also never be your game, the developers always have their finger on the shut down switch and are always able to ban you if you ask for it.2. The Community would be the 2nd reason. The ppl on the Nexus are all nice, I'm not counting them in now: Think of those spoiled brats which might have a high lvl chara and own you on every sight. Or the farmers grinding all mobs away so you have to wait untill you can finish your quest and other individuals who cannot be trusted and will ninja loot everything and leave you alone in a dungeon.3. I just mentioned Quests & Dungeons, they would probably be undoable unless you have a team you can count on. Of course, you could probably play it as lone-wolf, but you will never get the good loot then. Think of WoW, playing as a lone-wolf, the only way to get good gear is with arena pvp. And that gear is only good for pvp.4. Limits is another counter, all games have a limit which defines how far you can go or how strong you can get. Oblivion does not have such a limit thanks to the CS. You finished the main quest? And all side-quests? But you still would like to experience more? Great, just get the CS and create your own dungeon! Share it with others to get their opinion and dl other dungeons & Quests, items, races, stories, graphical improvements, overhauls, etc. Thanks to the fact that you can mod Oblivion, you can change it so much that it wouldn't be a RPG anymore. In fact, you could make it into a fps! A MMO will never give you that oppertunity. The reason for this is the fact that player's world a wouldn't go together with player's world b, be it because of changes in worldspace or lore. And even if Beth could overhaul the way MMOs work so they become modable, would you enjoy it if another player comes by and joins your group/guild or maybe owns you, but is wearing a pink camouflage outfit and plateau shoes with an Elvis Wig armed with a pulse rifle from Aliens? And doing an Umpa dance afterwards?Yes, exactly
Sangel2525
If TES became an MMO it would kill the series for me. So stick me in with the "NO" crowd.
leinad312
OP, much of your arguments for an MMO have revolved around player recognition, envy, and admiration (OMG you're so cool, where'd you get that sword? Hey newbs, check out my Dragon Slayer title). Sounds like another case of the E-peen. I doubt many oblivion players care for that.
