Adipose
Yikes!! Fast traveled to Riverwood in order to sell some gear to Alvor the Smith as my usual Whiterun contacts were temprarily out of cash. Got in after closing so spent the night in the Inn. Just as I'd stepped out on the porch the next morning a Blood Dragon hit the town. Critter was one of those that won't hold still long enough to get a shot in. There I am throwing spikes at him and he takes off just before they reach him. Further, I'm not a good enough wing shot to be able to hit him in the air with any consistency. Anyway, he/she is flying around torching everyone and everything. I'm chasing after him trying to get in a shot. Puker is burning the place for all he's worth. Finally got him but before I did he managed to nail the entire guard contingent along with Alvor and Sigrid his wife. Very annoying. AFAIK, Alvor and Sigrid don't respawn. The guards may, though I don't know. Assuming the smith doesn't respawn, will someone else take over the Smithy or is that all she wrote for Riverwood? I've seen Alvor dragoned before and when that happened Sigrid took over the Smithy. Now they're both dead. Kids are orphaned. Too bad the designers at TESV haven't designed a patch to put the kids up for adoption and have someone else come in to run the Smithy. I've tried the mod which has all the civilians run inside to stay out of the Dragon's way but it glitches on my comp. Basically causes the town to become deserted as the NPCs won't come back out after they've run for cover.
Zalman1337
Guards respawn (I know because I harvest the ones in Solitude for souls whenever I need them). Anyway, you need to get the Run For Your Lives mod. Most weak civilians (non-guard/non-followers) will run inside whenever dragons attack instead of getting themselves killed. I also use When Vampires Attack for Dawnguard. Also, are you sure that the civilians NEVER come back out for you? Sometimes it takes several hours (or a day or so) before they return to their regular routine. I had a similar problem but they always went back to normal after enough time had passed. CarlCorey
Back before the Run For Your Lives mod existed I had the same issue. It was too sad having Dorthe still walking around saying "Someday I'll forge my own sword!" so I wrote a personal mod that checked at startup if both Alvor and Sigrid were dead and promoted Dorthe to blacksmith status if she was still alive. Skyrim updates since broke that code so I never published it and I'm playing a different game now where both Alvor and Sigrid are hale, healthy and avoiding dragons. KingOfNutella
If you can find their bodies, you can use the console command "resurrect", but you've probably already tried that.
