CTD near Riverwood/Whiterun area

Have tryed various graphic settings, vanilla .ini's, cleaning masters, verifying cache, disabling/uninstalling mods, updated all drivers, starting new game with same mods.

 

System:

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth 990FX

CPU: AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Series(temp in Riverwood area 61-65'C depending on lighting/weather)

GPU: EVGA GTX 680 Classified(temp in Riverwood area 55-65'C depending on lighting/weather)

RAM: 8GB of Corsair Vengeance(1600mhz)

 

-Skyrim up to date with Dawngaurd

-Use NMM, Wrye Bash, BOSS(BUM), SKSE 1.6.6, Construction Kit, Tes5Edit

 

Size of Save file: 18693kb, level 55, finished main quest and most side quests, play time 195hours

1) Some of your plugins haven't been cleaned. Maybe you downloaded and installed them recently and forgot to clean them in TES5Edit.

 

2) How do you handle the plugins not recognized by BOSS? Are you letting them load after your compatibility patches? Have you checked them out in TES5Edit to see if they conflict with other plugins in your load order?

 

3) Is the CTD reproducible? Do you always CTD in the same or near the same spot between Whiterun and Riverwood?

Pretty much guaranteed that as I run up the hill to Riverwood from Whiterun, when I get around the corner and see Riverwood, I will crash to desktop. I fast traveled to Riverwood and Assault(Random dragon attack from Deadly Dragons) activated a few seconds after arriving, after a minute or two the game will CTD and I get this error:

They are generally not serious but (with some exceptions, if explicitly explained by the mod authors to keep them) completely unnecessary and could generate some bugs and anomalies (for example, if the duplicate to master records overwrite the changes made by a mod loaded earlier, leading to people asking 'why isn't mod X working for me?'). But the deleted references that are not undeleted and set to disabled can cause CTDs if the deleted objects are referenced by a mod loading later in the load order (not so much an issue with Skyrim, but a significant one with Fallout 3/NV when we had those 'clean clutter' mods where the modder just went into the CK and started deleting stuff).

The only reliable way to do this is to load those esp's along with the other esp's in your load order, click the plus sign to expand their records, and look for conflicts. Based on what you see, you can arrange the unrecognized esp's to load where you think it should go (if no conflict, then it doesn't matter where they load, just put anywhere above your compatibility patches. If there is conflict, you'll have to decide who should 'win'). I think this provides some basic information about how to do that. You can also check the videos linked on the TES5Edit page, which might have tutorials about reading conflicts. If you get utterly stumped by something, you can post some screenshots here. As a last resort, you can just uninstall them and not have to deal with the aggravation. Also, since they are not recognized by BOSS, there will be no indication that they might contain 'dirty edits' unless you check in TES5Edit, so clean them too (apply filter, remove duplicate to master entries, undelete/disable deleted references), just in case.

 

After you decided on and tested in game the new loading position of the unrecognized plugins (to make sure they help stabilize your game rather than make it worse), you can use the 'BOSS Userlist Manager' to set custom rules for the unrecognized esp's, so their load position won't be reset every time you run BOSS (and they will no longer show up as 'unrecognized').

The best way to track down the cause of a reproducible CTD is to disable your mods in groups until you find out which mod is responsible. But try to fix the unrecognized plugins first.

It's hard to say. Some times it could be too many running scripts and AI's stressing the engine (that is clearly aging poorly). Skyrim's Creation Engine is basically an enhanced version of the Oblivion engine. So no matter how powerful your rig may be, at some point, the game simply can't handle all those multipe HD texture packs, replacers, and HD textures for equipment/creature mods (e.g. Deadly Dragon), increased spawns and spawn points (e.g. Warzones), and so on. It's why Skyrim has the population density of a post-apocalyptic world. Sometimes ini change might help mitigate this (but don't alter ugridstoload=5. More than 5 and the game will become unstable). If it gets really aggravating, you can try and 'scale back' by using standard textures for mods if the option is available for them, trim the load order a bit (and start a new game so you don't have to deal with orphan crap left behind in save games by uninstalled mods).

Are you OC'ing the 1100t?

How are you reading your CPU temp, what software are you using?

Mine never gets over 43-48'c after hours of skyrim. (AMD overdirve reading)

65'C is getting close to the high side for that proc.

what are your idle temps?

Generally, crashes aren't caused by scripting errors. For example, the lvlpredatorscript.psc error was rampant before USKP fixed it but it I have had experiences where it had appeared 10-15 times in my papyrus log without causing crashes or even stuttering. Another user described this as death by a thousand cuts, which means that one mod, two mod three mod more isn't going to crash you but start getting around the 70-80 (depending on your rig) and you'll get crashes, no matter what you do :)

This is just going from personal experience, but I'm assuming that it is SkyTEST since it adds many spawns for the new creatures and packs around the world. It could perhaps be conflicting with Deadly Dragons, but I wouldn't imagine so since dragons are usually isolated from other creatures. Try removing SkyTEST, load save, save, exit to desktop, start Skrim again, load save and then try again. On the other hand, it could be Deadly Dragons, bu it is up to you which one to go with.

 

However, you might want to try heeding BOSS first, just in case.

I've started a new game and running from Helgan to Riverwood, I crashed, I'll try with only texture packs and see how it goes.

I use the AI Suite(thermal radar) that comes with the driver disk for the mobo and have set the case fans and CPU fan to "Turbo" setting, also yesterday I grabbed a new heatsink/fan for the CPU and idle at 40'C and maxs at 52'C, I have a light OC on my Vid card but OC or not the game crashes still the same.

I have deactivated SkyTEST already, I'll check Deadly Dragons, I use BOSS after every mod installation.
