It would be cool to see this mod come to life, but I just feel, in the back of my mind, that this is not the right thing to do lmao. I feel like Bethesda would never make a dwemer DLC, or include them in any future games because they are just too mysterious and are too complicated to flesh out a story that doesn't have gigantic plot holes.

Like for instance, did you know that the Dwemer were telepathic? They had an ability called "The Calling" that allowed them to communicate with other dwemer even over vast distances.

This concept alone makes a story about them almost impossible to tell because an ability like this is so revolutionary that their culture would be completely alien to us.

My point is the dwemer are too different from the rest of Tamriel to be able to allow us to make contact with these beings. I feel like all the mystery surrounding the Dwemer and their highly evolved culture and society would be broken down the moment you meet an actual dwemer and he opens his mouth. And by actual dwemer I mean a dwemer that has been living under dwemer society, meaning NOT Yagrum Bagarn, who has been living with the population of Tamriel for thousands of years.

So in conclusion:

Very interesting idea, EXTREMELY ambitious, would definitely play, however, in my honest opinion, no one can capture the exact mystique of the Dwemer, not even Bethesda. If Bethesda added actual dwemers to any DLC or upcoming games, I would be disappointed by it no matter what.

To give my 2 cents, I'm a novice mod maker, and I would love to help in the actual process of creating this mod, but the hardest part in mod creation is finding a decent modeler (in this scenario, at least), and graphic designer. With enough time, I could get a "foot in the door" with the basics of the mod, but if you want new structures and models, I'm no artist. That being said, if multiple people were willing to start this project, including a modeler/artist, (once the lore/storyline is agreed upon) then i'm all for helping with it. There are multiple programs that can be used to share the main mod files and have them updated, etc. so that everyone has an up-to-date version. Edited by ahellhound

Somebody should probably write the questlines out so we don't need to read walls of text?

As in

- Meet the scholar in Winterhold

- Ask the augur on dunlain where the scholar is

- Ask the scholar about his plans

... Also! Names!

And a decent way to explain why these dwemer were not affected by the same effect that made their race vanish. Maybe they knew the connection they all had, the calling would drag them all down with Kagrenac and they severed themselves from the calling, the dwemer world and created a unique device that blocks all special magic types that they then installed in their city?

actually i was thinking about that and got somenthing in mind: this part of nirn(the firelands) are not like the rest of the nirn(YOU DON'T SAY!), all the dwemer tonal architecture are useless in that part of nirn, the magic there doens't change the minor spells and magic stuff, but the big ones, like the process used by the dwemer to dissapear, are useless in the firelands, so the dwemer trapped there didn't dissapeared like the others, because tthe magic energy has a different behavior in the firelands, this different behavior of the magic also eliminate the "calling" ability from the dwemer, the dwemer trapped in the firelands coulnd't use their telepatic system.

but anyway, lets continue writing the storyline, and we just get everything together in a wall of text

so the player meet the scholar(we dont have a name for him by now, so we just call him "lex luthor") named "lex luthor" and...

so the player meet the scholar and...

The scholar asks the player what he knows about the dwemer. The player is given the options of saying "Dwemer?", "I know a little bit, but not much.", "Those people with the robots and the cities?", and "You could call me the professor of dwemiri studies." To which the scholar responds "They're known as deep elves and disappeared a long time ago, but not all of them. Meet me here so that I can tell you my theory.", "Great! Meet me here and we'll discuss this a bit further.", "Yes, those people that made the robots. Look, just meet me here so that we can discuss this.", and "That... That's spectacular! Fantastic! Meet me here so that we can discuss a theory of mine!" accordingly. The location is near Aftand and he tells you his theory that the lava field down near the core affected the dwemer in some way, cutting them off from the rest when they were evaporated by the Heart of Lorkhan. He leads you through Alftand and into Blackreach and...

i will start to write our storyline and the dialogue options

...and the player find some old falmer books in a small house near the walls of the huge cave, then, the player talk with the scholar and he says:"by the nine! an old falmer tome, i wonder what it says...", the player reply:"i know someone who can read this falmer stuff", the scholar reply:"then lets get to this dude".

the player and the the scholar go to winterhold to speak with mugrab-sha-whatever and he translate the falmer tome, the tome talks(we write what is inside later) about a old dwemer elevator, the falmer slaves weren't allowed to use that elevator, so only the dwemer knew what was under the elevator, the elevator(much larger than the common dwemer elevator) is inside the dwemer fotress in black reach(here we have a new dungeon, you see, the dwemer elevator is inside a whole complex under the fotress, however, there is no falmer there, since the place is secret, only ebony dwemer machine there(the ebony animunculi are much stronger than the common dwemer animunculi), and a ebony centurion in the actual elevator to the firelands, after the player defeat the centurion(the scholar is killed in the process?) he get the key to activate the elevator(part of the loot in the ebony centurion), the player activate the elevator and go down in the firelands...

the player activate the elevator and go down in the firelands...

...And he is met with a dwemer farmer who heard the elevator rumbling and banging from down below. He walks up to you and says "Well, that's new." You are given the options of saying:

"What do you mean?"

"Were you expecting something else?"

or "What is this place?"

In response he will say:

"Well, the elevator was making loud noises before, but not as loud as it was bringing you down here."

"Not really. I was expecting the elevator to finally break down and collapse, but someone from above fixed it."

"This is Mzunixand (mm-zoo-nik-send), the city of fire. Didn't you know that? How long has it been since the Numidium was activated?"

From the last one you're given the options of:

"That was three eras ago..."

"I don't know, a long time maybe."

"What?"

And he responds with:

"Three eras?! Dear Julian (which is short for Julianos), time passes by fast when you don't have a sun."

"Wow, I guess some of the people from the surface really aren't that educated."

"The Brass God from the Battle of Red Mountain in Resdayn. Where we fought the Nords and that old Jurgen fellow with the Chimer. People don't remember that? Oh, well then I guess it really has been a long time since then."

And then they convene and end with him saying

"But at least you came when you did, because some of the chaurus is giving the city trouble and maybe you could help out. I'm just a farmer that farms Harrada Root and Bloodgrass, I'm safe out here, but the city is being constantly attacked by waves of chaurus. You wouldn't mind helping them out, would you?"

So the player goes and defeats enough chaurus so that the problem is miniscule and...

...and the senator dimi(we keep this name)appears and say(behind the wall of the city):"by julian, what are you?!"

the player reply:"i'm the dragonborn, what are YOU?"

dimi says:"dragonborn, that old profecy about the end of the world brought by dragons? anyway, we are the remains of the dwemer, and if weren't by your help this damned chaurus would wipe out us soon"

the player reply:"can i enter?is warm out here"

dimi say:"of course not, we don't allow random strangers into our city"

now, the player has two options, make some favors until the dwemer allow him to enter the city OR try to enter ilegally, if he enter ilegally, dimi cast a paralyze spell and the player is sent to prision, in the prision he will meet some falmer, the falmer will speak with the player

falmer:"hey there new face, why are you here?"

player:"what the hell?! how are you talking with me, filthy creature!

falmer:"wait! we are not like our corrupted brothers, we dont seek absolute destruction of everything!besides, we are just asking"

player:"sorry, im not used to talking falmer, anyway, the dwemer sent me here for trying to enter the city"

falmer:"tell you what, we are planing a breakout, you seems to be the type of guy who can deal with danger, are you with us?"

player(option 1):"sure, i want to escape this sink hole the fast as i can!"

player(option 2):"give me some time to think adn i tell you"

falmer(reply to option 1):"yeah, just wait for me here until tomorrow and i give you the instructions"

falmer(reply to option 2):"sure, but if you want, wait for me here until tomorrow and i tell what to do"

now the player has two options: first, escape with the falmer(not sure waht will happens to get trust with the dwemer) OR tell to the dwemer guards about the breakout, if the player do that, he is immediatly allowed into the city(after the dwemer take care of the escaping falmer).

BUT if you denounce the falmer you will not be able to start the secondary quest "falmer unchained"(more details after, but this quest permit you to help the falmer take control of the city and enslave the dwemer).

this is one side of the options, if the player don't want to enter the city, he just have to ask to senator dimi after the dialogue

player:"anything i can do to be allowed to enter the city?"

dimi:"yes actually, some farmers are having trouble is their falmer slaves, it seems that they are fermenting a rebelion, if you go there and stop this situation, you are allowed into our city"

well, here you have another option, instead of killing the falmer slaves, you talk with then and get your chance of starting the quest 'falmer unchained", and you just kill the dwemer falmers and lie to dimi.

now the player just have to enter the dwemer city and continue...
