Panther10 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 So I'm on a quest. Temba Wide-Arm has instructed me to kill 10 bears and retrieve their pelts and bring them back to her. Where are the best regions to find and kill bears in skyrim?
Tidus44 Posted February 6, 2013 Posted February 6, 2013 (edited) There are two caves close to Ivarstead that have 4 to 6 bears (seems to vary) once you clear both caves (Honey "something" and Peak "something" are the partial names I think). The cross country route (north of the river and lake) to Riften usually has a number of bears especially closer to the mountains. I usually get lucky as I run across a hunter or two who have bear pelts. Edited February 6, 2013 by Tidus44
HeyYou Posted February 7, 2013 Posted February 7, 2013 I ran into a pretty good size crowd on multiple occasions when leaving Riften, and just waking north..... couple groups of four or more in the forest... didn't even have to go into a cave.

Perraine Posted May 9, 2016 Posted May 9, 2016 Yah, "The Rift" is home of the bears in Skyrim. Running around between Ivastead, Riften and Dayspring Canyon will get you dozens of bears. Look for anywhere you see a tree with bark missing, ... Oh and take Serana with you, she has an Agro Radius of about 57.96 Km, so she'll be sure to spot a Bear no matter how far away it is.
Relativelybest Posted May 28, 2016 Posted May 28, 2016 I recently came across Fallowstone Cave and there were like twelve cave bears in there. Not sure that is usual, though. There's supposed to be trolls as well, but maybe all enemies randomly spawned as bears for me. All I know is that I could have cleared Temba's quest right there.

Look at the Forgotten Vale and see what happened when either the Snow Elves or the Falmer did not pay attention to the ecological repercussions of overhunting. Temba is looking at this from the purely capitalist perspective of wanting all the timber to be pristine.
Legedur Posted June 9, 2016 Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) Belethor's shop in Whiterun. That guy brings bear pelts very often. If you have a mod that forces 1 day restock for vendors, it's easy to gather 10 pelts. I always do this: As soon as i go to Whiterun and kill the first dragon, i buy Breezehome and i start buying any bear pelts Belethor sells and stack them inside Breezehome. By the time i end all Whiterun quests (minus companions), i usually have 10 pelts. I then travel to Ivarstead to meet the Greybeards and hand the 10 pelts ready to Temba and proceed to High Hrothgar.
