Qeustion about AFT (Cause I'm a noob)

Hey everyone. Made this question in AFT comment section but no one answer, so here it goes again:

How big is the chance to be doomed if I want to change the load order of my mods when I already started a new playthrough? The mod note says it can cause a corrupted savefile, but I realized (a little too late) that certain mods' load order might need to be changed in order to work. I used LOOT before starting a new game, but it seems like I had to put them in the right order manually and troubleshoot from there. Also, I don't know if just updating certain mods can break my game, so I'd like some advice here.

Thanks in advance

I have fiddled with my game extensively over the past ~2 years.

I have extensively installed mods, uninstalled mods, and changed load orders with few or no issues. (note regarding load order...well there are/can-be ramifications, ex: say you have multiple skin textures installed for whatever reason, you may find your body changes texture unexpectedly, but generally not catastrophic, unless I violate a directive that "This mod MUST be loaded after THAT mod or the game will die an excruciatingly painful death")

BTW, I don't recall AFT being in my contentions listings anywhere. I have ~270 or so mods installed right now

I recommend using Vortex as your mod manager. It makes life extremely easy.

And if you're new-ish, (which I presume) I'd recommend taking your time. You do not need 737 mods to enjoy skyrim.

If you're using LOOT standalone, what mod manager are you using? It's not Vortex, and you're missing out on the extra capabilities it enables. I understand familiarity is seductive, but this is the integrity and stability of your mod list, more important than life itself! If, gawds forbid, you're still trying to use Nexus Mod Mangler... just don't. Stop. That is your first (unsolicited) advice.

Regarding your question, I've never heard of merely changing plugin load order being capable of corrupting a saved game. That sounds like a ridiculous claim to me. That said, ATF - I have never used it - has an enormous number of scripts, and trying to update it or worse yet remove it mid-game would be Very Bad. The more likely consequence of changing its load order is that it simply breaks some functionality of AFT or another mod, if there are any conflicts.

Second (unsolicited) advice: there are other follower managers like Extensive Follower Framework and Netherworks you might consider... the next time you start a new game.

It can happen if you have a lot of scripted mods, I don't know all of the programming mechanics that causes it, but it definitely is a thing (I've done it myself).

In regards to AFT, the biggest risk you run by shuffling things around is you could end up in a situation where one of your followers is above/below AFT from where it used to be, and they will no longer function properly. That is can usually be fixed with some console commands, but it's best to avoid it altogether if you can.
