heyiforgot
This isn't so much a request as much as it is an idea that I was wondering if it could be made to work. I'm a big fan of Daggerfall and people who played that game will probably agree that Skyrim feels small compared to the older game. I know that it would probably be difficult to expand or stretch the Skyrim world space or to add more land or distance in between locations, so instead of that I'm wondering if it would it be possible to shrink down the actors and models to one half or one third of their vanilla size. The movement speeds would have to be reduced and maybe some of the cities with their own world models repositioned somewhat to fit but this could potentially make skyrim seem much bigger with out changing the world space itself. Shrinking down the size of buildings would also leave more room at town locations to add more buildings to make them seem more town-sized. It would also make the terrain seem much larger and mountain seem more...mountainous. I know that model size can be changed because I've seen mods with scaled up animals. How did they do that? It doesn't require a modeling program does it? Again this is just an idea I had, I'm not really a modder and haven't tried editing buildings or scenery at all. I'm just wondering if any one else thought Skyrim should be bigger and if anyone though this would work or if they had though of any other methods to make the land larger. thanks for reading
dragonchris152
don't think this is at all practical. He or she would have to fix landscapes, meshes, actors, and navmesh he could probably actually make the world bigger by adding towns and other lands with the same amount of time. It isn't as simple as shrinking the items, since everything is designed with their scale in mind.
Dudeman325
To me, the biggest issue with the scale of the worldspace was the travel times. I think you could get something similar to what you wanted by using one of the many mods out there that reduce movement speed, or make normal running (not sprinting) cost stamina, or you could just take it upon yourself to walk more often. Personally I use Realistic Running Speed, combined with not using fast travel makes the world seem a lot larger just because it takes more time to get somewhere. Hope this helps! heyiforgot
Yeah that makes sense, I hadn't even thought of navmeshes and stuff. But hey, that kind of thing is why I wanted to discuss this this idea!
Fatecheater
The request for a bigger Skyrim has been made (many times) like here: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/592269-bigger-skyrim/ But, your idea of shrinking down models is new. However, that's not to say it's more feasible than all those already-mentioned methods, since every landscape models must be done as well, and then there will be clipping everywhere, fixing clipping, adding some more landscape models,... I'm not claiming that making Skyrim bigger LITERALLY (not by reducing movement speed or adding obstacles to increase travelling time) is impossible. It is a great idea for a great mod, but that mod is NOT YET feasible. It's feasible once Skyrim reaches its stable state where no more patch is needed and no more DLC is made.
