Ebony Warrior

hard is fine but NOT taking damage is another thing altogether. that's God mode. it isn't that I think it's unfair to have a trough fight. I DO think it is unfair to have a fight that NO ONE could win and that includes everyone of you.

I went back and gave it another try. I blasted him with a duel cast gale blast off the side of a shear drop of about two hundred feet and it barely scratched him. in fact, during the five minutes it took my avatar to get down to where he dropped he was in perfect health and buffing his ego again. oh yeah Bethesda he bounces well. it's a laugh to watch as he gets up only to be blasted once again with a duel cast gale blast. check out the skyrim school of witchcraft. if you fight him be ready for one heck of a fight. seriously, I think it is a broken quest. can't tell you too much more or Bethesda will get angry.

He really is supposed to be that tough, Notsure122. Your game is not broken, you just give up too easily.

I beat the Ebony Warrior with legendary Stalhrim light armor and battle axe. No enchantments. I also used shouts (Dragon Aspect, Unrelenting Force, Elemental Fury) and a lot of healing potions. Just be prepared for a long battle. It's a lot easier to distract him with summons/followers while you attack with archery or magic, but that's just not my character's style.

You didn't read my posting. I won. He went off the side of a cliff and reset. I blasted him across a field and into a fort and through the wood. he should have been dead several times but I think he is essential because he reacted in a similar fashion to an essential. finally, I gave up and called it a victory because he ran off and I couldn't find him. I may not have killed him but he didn't kill my avatar either. I may need to complete a few more quests before I can kill him with this avatar. she is only just beginning act 2. Oh and just for the record my armor rating was only about 650. as an experiment I typed in the kill: command and he just went to his knees unlike that poor white run guard I tested it on before who went rag doll.

The game makes it very hard for a roleplayed character to reach a high level. If you stick to quests that make sense in the context of your character (instead of going Gamer Mode and just gathering every single title and power), you run out of levelling options not before long. Unless you have the patience of level up through tedious repetition of the same things.

Sounds like your Ebony Warrior was still in some kind of essential mode. I guess your quest broke or something? In that case I apologize for my earlier attitude.

Just standing next to the Ebony warrior triggers a scripted event that causes you die automatically. He is actually very weak and underpowered compared to a true nord. I placed all my stats in Health for except 20 levels, that equals 61 levels of health. I also have smithing at 200 and armor at legendary with upgraded weapons.

When I first met him he is fighting a frost troll and doesn't attack but stands there. Turns out you have to be the aggressor and trigger a fight. Upon commencing the fight I collapsed and instantly died, he didn't even have to do a thing. I reloaded my save and the same thing happened again. This time i attacked him and backed up and noticed he wasn't doing much damage to my character to justify an instant death. I blew him off the mountain and fought him at the bottom where I instantly died again.

I reloaded and tried it again but hit him and backed up and hit him and backed up. I fought for about 5 minutes, his attacks are weak and his armor is vanilla compared to my superior gear. I have double enchantments for health and stamina in the +150 range for regen.

In conclusion the Ebony Warrior has a trigger (that goes off when fighting to close) that I'm guessing is similar to Ebony Mail armor, but instead of causing poison over time you simply collapse and die. I'm sure someone in a fight could easily misinterpret the event as a powerful hit or spell and fail to realize the game is triggering an instant kill victory for the Ebony Warrior.

Sounds more like your triggering his Reflect Blows perk. That hasthe ability to 1 hit lot of melee players.
