Start Up Failed (PLEASE HELP)

Scoop1

Recommended Posts

Okay, so Vortex is acting really weird so I tried to move my vortex folder to my D drive and it didn't work out so I moved it back to the original location (the C Drive) and I got the Start Up Failed error. So I reinstalled it multiple times, restarted my pc nothing is working. I don't know why this is still happening as I reinstalled so any help would be greatly appreciated the error:

The error message means that Vortex can't read the database containing all its settings and data. 99 out of 99.1 cases this happen is because Vortex is already running, hence the message, but I can't rule out there are other possible reasons.

You should find a "vortex.log" file at

c:\users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Vortex

which should contain an error message "failed to open db " plus the exact reason it fails to open.

Most likely its some kind of permission problem.

Now the database itself is in that same directory, in a subdirectory called "State.v2". If it is a permission issue, please ensure that your account can read&write that directory (right-click -> properties -> security).

If it's something else or you need more help, please post the error message you found.

wen you see that message go to your task Manager (Ctrl +Alt + Delete) and into details, find the process Vortex.. and rightclick on it, click on End proces structure, it should end the working of Vortex on that moment.

Then secure your mods that are in the mod archive of Vortex. ---> uninstall vortex ---> install vortex but this time make sure it is on the drive you want it to be--- > restore your mods inthe Vortex archive directory.

Now you can reinstall all your mods, and play

or

Download Mod Organizer 2
