exanimis
Wow that looks really cool, are you planning to make it big? And what about a turtle? He should be 12 to 20 feet in length, not giant but as big as a gator. I'm not big on turtles but if I had the right design, I'd consider it. I hope to have snakes in my mod and am learning to animate their "slither" but I'd still have to animate their attack and other movements. I'm not sure I can figure out enough to animate them. It's not natural talent that allows me to create these creatures, it's years of practice, years of studying anatomy and structure and years of failures and successes. Thanks for the compliment though. Those earlier works seem to be paying off when I model something in blender. If you didn't see it on my other thread here is my new velociraptor http://i118.photobucket.com/albums/o108/crossbones59/Pellucidar/Raptor.jpg still a WIP
alex2avs
Looks very nice. You should write a tutorial on modeling beasts in Blender. It would be greatly appreciated ;)
ihateregisteringeverywhere
You could perhaps use the slaughterfish skeleton and swim animation for slithering, you'd have to create new attack anims though.
exanimis
You could perhaps use the slaughterfish skeleton and swim animation for slithering, you'd have to create new attack anims though. I've found a tutorial about animating a snake in Blender and I've been practicing. Without success so far but that's only for now. @ alex2avs As soon as I know enough to complete a creature with animations and textures, I plan to write a tutorial that will take you through the entire process. From the first time you open Blender or the CS to the completion of the creature and adding it to the game. Hopefully I will tell exactly what buttons to hit and when so that anyone can follow along. If I do this I'll need people to test the tutorial and let me know if I leave out any step, no matter how small. Keep watching the forums, sooner or later I will post it. I've gone through hundreds of tutorials and I have yet to find one that was complete. Everybody leaves out something. One tutorial told me to switch into face mode, it took me two days to find out what button to push to do it. Another tutorial told me to delete the Bip01 and Bip01 non accum bones, later the tutorial said to chose them and move my skeleton. (the Bip01 bones controll the skeleton and they are essential.) I found that same thing with making icons,I combined three pieces of info, and by the time I worked thru it had eliminated about half the steps as un-needed. I always love looking at such things lol. I like watching speed modeling but those videos are just to show off, you really can't learn much from them. I don't think people would take me seriously if I made a video. I have lived in 29 of the 48 states that make up the continental U.S.A. and most were in the south. My accent would not be excepted in a video no matter how well the video was made. @ wasder Pathing in the water creates a whole new set of problems and while I love the idea I'm not going to have them. The Mahars are very similar to rays in some aspect so I don't think you will be disappointed when you see them.
