rmp123
I recently started having a problem that after loading one of my saves after a few minutes (10 at most) i crash to desktop every time. i know for a fact its not one of my mods as i have used boss and fnvedit to check if a .esp was loading before its master and have found no problems and even went as fare as to make a patch. i run fonv using NMM for my loading of mods with archive invalidating on and have NVSE installed correctly (typing getnvseversion in console brings back the correct version) i use 4gbnewvegas to actually launch my game after loading i use my task manager to see the amount of memory i am using and it is already up to about 1,600,000 kb (almost 1.6gb) soon after (im assuming when it hits 2gb) my game crashes. isn't 4gbnv suppose to make it to where i could use all 4gb without the game running out of memory if anyone knows why it is that my game is using such huge amounts of memory before i even get into new vegas (which should make it much worse as i have freeside and strip open mods and repopulated wasteland) my final question is if using a mod that changes the timescale to 1:1 would make it to where things that change over a period of in-game time (merchants refreshing, corpses disappearing etc.) would make the game have so much required memory having to hold on to old info like all the stuff i sold the merchants that it would run my ram requirements through the roof. my system specs are:OS: windows 7 64bitprocessor: AMD phenom II x4 ~3.0ghzmemory: 8gbgraphics card : AMD Radeon 7770 my load order: falloutnv.esmFalloutNV.esmProject Nevada - JimboUK
Is that card 1GB? Something I've noticed is NV seems to be very funny with VRAM, I would try a smaller version of NMC and see if that helps, just overwrite the one you have. I used to get a lot of crashes with a 1GB and NMC, now I have a 3GB card and it's rock solid. Don't set the time scale to 1, it can cause crashes. luthienanarion
The game will crash when you run out of VRAM, regardless of system RAM usage. Unless you're using a monster video card like jim_uk, don't even think about using the 'large' NMC pack. Also, you're right at the limit of stability when looking at the number of plugins you are loading. Get the merged More Perks from the NVEC downloads and replace all of those More Perks plugins with it, and that should give you some breathing room. rmp123
cool ill try some of that now..... also i know about the "limit" for mods as i myself reached mine at around 150 (started losing textures and such) so im down now to about 140also yes i have only 1gb of vram ill try medium see if that fixes it and thanks for the merged more perks....should free up some space for MORE mods Edited February 12, 2013 by rmp123

BarefootWarrior
I'm a bit confused here. Are you using NMC"s 'Large' texture packs? If so, that could be a problem. My system is not low end by any means, but I had issues with the 'Large' texture pack as well. I removed the large texture packs (using the script provided at NMC's page under options.) and then re installed the 'Medium (Performance) packs. you don't loose anything (detail) by using the Medium packs. The reason for this is (if I understand correctly) the 'Large' texture packs are all 1024 X 1024 textures. The 'Medium' texture packs are 512 X 512 and don't take as much in resources to render on screen. Also, unlike the NMC's texture packs from FO3, the FONV NMC texture packs include the normals maps. I would also recommend the 'stutter remover' which limits the game to 30 FPS. I was running at 60 FPS and having crashing issues, I'm not sure, but I don't think the game engine handles a high frame rate to well. Just my opinion, but it seems to solve a lot of problems with both FO3 and FONV. I am now running the Medium texture packs at Ultra-High settings without any issues. I am using the fv4gb enabler and FOSE as well. My system specs are... My system specs are... no i switched to medium and it still does it. im also using the 4gb enabler and nvse. iv just decided to start from a whole new install and see if i cant get it back to working order before i try again. this time starting with medium and using some of the suggestions such as your stutter remover suggestion and the nvec version of more perks to hopefuly clear up some of my load list. my problem is mainly that after only a few minutes my games ram usage can go from a stable 500k to over 1.5 million kb of ram from just walking around in goodsprings on a new save....so i figure there has gotta be something i broke or such that is causing this iv had steam delete my local content as well as deleted the fallout new Vegas folder from my steam directory...im almost done re-installing so im going to make those changes after and see if it helps fortunately there was only a few mods that i installed manually (mostly just texture replaces and a few other mods) Edited February 13, 2013 by rmp123
JimboUK
If you've not installed the texture pack yet then don't, try it without first. If it works OK then make a back up of the data folder and then try the textures, that way if it all goes horribly wrong you can always revert back to the clean data folder. innova889
hello all ...i have a gtx 670 2gb ram, 16 gb ram, i3-3.7k(i think)....but i can only run skyrim at 60fps whereas i ahve seen people running at more than 100 fps with lesser configs ....any help wud be appreciated :)
JimboUK
This is the wrong forum but in answer to your question you probably have Vsync enabled with limits the frame rate, keep it enabled or very strange things may start to happen.
