Dragonborn DLC Doesn't Work

I got an amazingly quick fix from a fellow in my Steam friends who was playing Skryim at the time.
enableplayercontrols

It seems so damn obvious now.
That fixed that problem. But, of course, it's Skyrim with mods, so there's a slew of other things I need to sort out. Animations we mentioned, and surprise surprise, Netches have no animations at all. Just hover around, even when dead. Same with.. I forget the name of them at the moment, they're like crickets. They just slide around. They can't attack.
But that's a different problem! And someone already posted the solution, hopefully.

So, I don't want to be that guy who fixes it and says 'I fixed it' and isn't heard from again.
If this happens to anyone else, open console enableplayercontrols

edit: the boat is there now. I don't know when it arrived, but I spotted it - and spoke to the crew - after running around lost in the ash for a while.

edit2: So I may have run into another problem when trying to fix the animations

sounds like it might be an animation issue, if you use FNIS, make sure you update it to the latest version, it fixed a few problems I was having in DragonBorn.

For example there is a tower you need to "float up" to the top and my character would always get stuck at the bottom, levitate slightly off the ground then go unresponsive. Updating FNIS and doing the usual patch fixed the issue, and might work for you aswell.

lol almost forgot, my friend had the same issue. he fixed it by getting the starter quest for dragonborn BEFORE going to the boat.

Apparently the game is buggy if you dont grab that quest first... supposedly you get it after you retrieve the Horn for the greybeards in the main story of skyrim.

Hope this helps

What exactly is FNIS ?

Oh, the game works fine.

The odd performance issue, but that's to be expected.

Not a single thing is flawed aside from the DLC.

Travelling to Solstheim just, basically, makes me a stationary first person perspective. Can't move. This is all I see.

I got the same problem. Got stuck and saw the same as what you saw except: my view (screen) is very very blurry! It feels like I forgot my glasses or there's a very dense fog. Actually, I can't even see my own face clearly. oh yes, the 'enableplayercontrols' console command worked for me but no matter how hard I rub my eyes I can't see anything clearly. :(

Anyone had this problem? Any thoughts?

(I have ENB's depth-of-field OFF)

Thanks in advance!

Found a fix from another site as: "The cutscene never really plays .However i found a solution for this problem:When you have to speak with Gjalund Salt-Sage type "setstage dlc2mq01 20" to skip the travelling part and then "movetoqt dlc2mq01"to teleport yourself to raven rock. After that you are able to continue perfectly normal with the main quest. The cutscene was definetly the problem here but i dont know why."

Kudo to that guy who provided that fix. It worked out perfectly for me.

I guess I'll worry about how can I get back to Skyrim later....
