LargeStyle
Download Audacity (audio editor) - it's free and safe: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Open your sound file with Audacity, use the zoom / magnify options (highlighted in red) so you can clearly see all the sound wave and left click an area towards / at the end of the sound wave (this will bring up a thin location bar - also highlighted in red)... http://img194.imageshack.us/img194/6748/audactiy5.png Then "unzoom" / "unmagnify" the sound wave so that you can see more time (the numbers just above the wave are time in seconds)... http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/4965/audacity1.png Then select "Generate" then "Silence"... http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/4130/audacity2.png In the pop-up windows input the amount of time you wish to add, for this example I'll use 6 seconds... http://img560.imageshack.us/img560/3852/audacity3s.jpg Ok that and voila, you have an extended sound wave file... http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/3669/audacity4.png Obviously you can select then cut and paste audio or "empty audio" to your liking to create the timings that you need. I personally don't use Audacity and use Sony Soundforge instead which admittedly uses the easier process of using a quick and simple option "insert silence at end" which is a little more straight forward. Either way, you should be sorted now

LargeStyle
Just in case anyone was wondering how to do this in Sony Sound Forge... Load your audio sound wave file, go to "Insert" then "Silence"... http://img706.imageshack.us/img706/4086/soundforge1.png BTW, I've highlighted the magnifying buttons in case people wanted to view the file either zoomed in or out. Next simply tell it how long the silence shall last for (in this example I've used 6 seconds again) and where to insert the silence (note that as well as placing silences at the very start or very end of an audio file, you can also left click the sound wave in any place within its timeline which'll create a cursor (in the form of a vertical line across the sound wave) and you can insert silences at this cursor point. I'm going to just select the end of the wave sound... http://img716.imageshack.us/img716/941/soundforge2.png Once you've ok'd your action then it's done...(6 extra seconds of blank audio - highlighted in red) http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/373/soundforge3.png
