Maverick255
Good morning all! I am trying to move my Skyrim install to a USB 3.2 SSD drive. It is currently installed on an internal hard drive and even though it is an i7 with 32 GB's of RAM, loading screens take up to 15 minutes. I got the USB SSD because I want to be able to move between my desktop and laptop (I'm in the Army and move around a lot). I have about 1000 extensions enabled between ESP's and ESL's so I'm sure you guys would understand how painful reinstalling would be. And if I reinstalled, there's a good chance that there would be a mod version mismatch and my character save with hundreds of hours gameplay would not be recoverable. I tried the steps in these threads, but was not successful. I'm not sure why, but when I fire up my Mod Organizer 2, there's only about 200 extensions rather than 1000ish. Items not originally enabled got enabled and items that were enabled are unchecked. I used Predcaliber's 2018 modlist which is like a basis of 700-800 mods and over the past two years I've piled on more and more, incredibly not breaking my save. I use a weather mod, his LOD's, and an ENB too https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/245394/how-do-i-transfer-my-skyrim-game-to-another-computerhttps://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/6556391-transfer-a-modded-skyrim-to-another-computer/ I was wondering if someone would be willing to write up simplified and fool-proof instructions on how to do this? Thank you,Chance
DoctorKaizeld
Honestly I don't think a usb ssd is a good idea or will even work particularly well. I would suggest just duplicating the installation on the laptop by following the guide and adding the additional mods.
Maverick255
I followed the instructions on the link. Even when I literally copy/paste a mod organizer folder to the new computer, only 290 of 881 mods transfer and only 60 of 275 plugins transfer. The instructions must be missing something crucial. Where are my mods getting lost at?
Maverick255
I discovered the directories in MO2 Settings\Paths were absolutely fubar. Fixing them gave me back part of my profile, but things that were enabled were not enabled and things disabled were not disabled. But everything was there. I did one last profile file transfer and it appears to have fixed the load order. I had to also update directories in the MO2 launch dropdown list.
