Jason2112
There was one line in the description that said something like ... setting will be permanentThis icon sat on my desktop for 5 days ... even if I hovered over it, I couldn't get my finger to click it. There is one rule all programmers must adhere to no matter what ...You have to be able to undo what ever you do just as easily as you did it, if you plan to go public. In this case put a value back to what ever setting it was prior to changing. A seemly easy task considering the ability to change it in the first place. This would lead one to believe the programmer has a limited ability to create the code (the cart before the horse thing). These two "red flags" where unmistakable and solid proof to really read a programs description. Looking for these kind of inconsistencies. I know none of this helps now and I'm not trying to throw salt in the wound ... but ...Always set a backup point when added anything that says it will change your system when testing.(not that I think that would have totally saved you in this case) For the ones who tried this program there is only one possible solutions that is FOR SURE. Your windows install disk has a repair option that will set your system back to default. This may be something the Nexus may want to screen as it really has a huge impact. For other programs that are made with strict guidelines and the end users as well. Side note:I have many types of program of this type and for simplicity would suggest you try.Game Fire (good program, terrible install - just say no/decline to all the extra offers) Edited February 18, 2013 by Jason2112
MacKom
So...no other way to restore picture thumbnails? Oh well...I was due for a fresh Windoze installation...I`m just surprised at myself, I`m ALWAYS super careful with these things. *sigh*
5ai
Thumbnail in explorer fix: First post here, hoping to save some poor souls who suffered from the same TYC s#*! as I did. Download this reg file, add, enjoy. Worked on my x64 Win 8 Pro, but should work on all versions of Win 7 & 8. Hope that helps someone. Edit: Here's what you're adding if you'd like to do it manually, or the 1st doesn't work for whatever reason. [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer]"DisableThumbnails"=- Edited February 19, 2013 by 5ai

mastersworddude
A tip for people to revert the visual effects after using TYC on Windows 7, like shadows, visible content while resizing and move windows, and other effects. 1. Use Windows key+R and run systempropertiesadvanced in the run window2. Click Settings in the Performance section3. Under the Visual Effects tab tick whatever you want to activate, or just tick Let Windows choose what's best for my computer to go default4. Click Apply

Quartermaster
Every time I restart my computer I see a DOS Emulator window running with the TYC dialog displaying, saying its doing this and that and 'optimizing' etc etc... I close it immediately of course, however the original executable has been deleted and I am clueless as to where it stored itself to be run on startup...?I'm running CCleaner, Spybot and all the usual suspects...Lord I hate lazy programmers who assume everyone else's coding environment is just identical to theirs for no good reason... Noobo
Nice to see this was confirmed as a trap. I suspected as much since day 1 It was pretty suss when it was uploaded and the first 3 comments were posted almost instantly after the file was published - it was pretty clear they were smurf accountsAlso the first three comments had the same syntactical structure and turn-of-phrasing. "deserving of endorsing" is a fairly uncommon phrasing. having the first three comments being so similar, one could only assume its the same guy on different accounts You dont need technical expertise to stay safe on the internet. use commonsense - always keep in mind that the internet harbours the nasty types.READ the early comments on anything you download - they are the best indicator of legit DLs
Muddaull
i used it,it was an option for those who get lag or choppy motions with their skyrim and all that...or at least for me :) i have had NO issues with this tweak what so ever aside from the thumbnail but i dont realy mind that. also i can still run everything on my comp. that i want to-i`m constantly downloading programs and still never run into problems. so i would say it may work for some and not for others....
