I also disabled all my mods and started a new save and checked my logs just after entering the tower in Helgen. I had ~60KB worth of plain text of nothing but this error repeating itself, aside from errors related to the carriage ride. [02/17/2013 - 02:49:50AM] warning:Property Follower3 on script CaravanLeaderScript attached to aliasLeaderA on quest Caravans (0003ACDB) cannot be initialized becausethe script no longer contains that property I'm planning to verify my game cache and re-clean my .ESM files with TES5edit, and I'm guessing that is the best course of action to take at this point. But, is this in any way normal, can mods (and/or console commands) cause the ESMs to become corrupted like this? Another strange behavior I encountered was during the tutorial/intro, was that the race menu never appeared... the guy with the list just addressed me as a fellow Nord, and a default male Nord I was. ...Any ideas? nrot Posted February 17, 2013 Author Share Posted February 17, 2013 @Korun I am running several test characters, and often create new ones for testing mods before I dive into playing a full game in the hopes I can avoid issues. This error does seem to be causing CTD's, as all my test characters experiencing CTD's lately have this error littered all over the place (and always just before a CTD), which motivated me to get rid of the aforementioned mod. However, when that didn't resolve the issue, I tried on a fresh save with no mods. Yet, the this error persists and that is worrisome to me. It seems indicative of a larger issue I haven't yet identified and really doesn't even make any sense to me unless skyrim.esm is corrupted somehow. I just want to see if others here agree with my line of thinking, or if perhaps there is something else I'm not noticing or taking into consideration. korun Posted February 17, 2013 Share Posted February 17, 2013 you can try this http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/31675 it's a script cleaner, but it's kind of a hard way , i'm tracking it but don't test it yet.are you using a profile manager for testing? if you did you won't have this kind of problem, i do, since i've destroy my very first char , 1 of my profile is heavily scripted and unstable :p, the others work just fine. then many scripted mod on nexus have a process to stop the entire quest at once for uninstall, this one not, i'm obviously not aware if there is any possibility to clean, in some way, the master files with TesEdit or other tool»»»»»»[-]@@ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

The problem is, I am in fact encountering this problem even with that utility running. MO was just updated a few hours ago however, so I will update it and see if that makes a difference (my gut feeling is it isn't related, but I'm sure it won't hurt to update). Flexcreator's game save cleaning tutorial is an interesting one, and I've been tracking it since he uploaded it. However, that wouldn't really address what I'm after here as I want to discover the root of this problem, and not merely address the symptoms, so I can hopefully avoid it in the future. I wasn't really clear on your second point, it seemed like you were saying that some mods can indeed permanently corrupt a quest chain, even after they are removed, and on a fresh game. Did I understand correctly? Edit: I think I figured it out. I removed the mod in the mod list of MO, the ESP (if there was one), and I believe I deleted it under the downloads tab, but that didn't remove the BSA file which is still there and loaded. I thought getting rid of it in one area would apply to all categories, apparently that isn't the case. Going to test to see if I am correct. Did I understandcorrectly?yes and in fact, all the game, even with a fresh start, it's like you didn't removed the mod, it's no more in your load order, but ghost scripts are still running in the papyrus log. so far the only way to get rid of it, is to start a fresh install instead. Skyrim is working this way, you can have 100 char in your game it's still one same game., so the other 99 char will have the same problem as your 1st one. that's why i'm using a profil swap, it's totally safe for your existing char, each profile store his own mods/setting etc... if the test profile no1 is corrupted, play with the regular no 2 which is not. Mod organizer isn't a profil manager at all, it's very usefull indeed to manage mods further than with NMM. for the leveled list, if you're pointing the Delev/Relev tag, it just a ref if you use Wrye bash, no error here, 1 ITM in water it's 0 error also, clean it if you want but it's not necessary at all Well, good to hear you solved your problem@@ Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Not sure if it's the cause of my CTDs or whether it has been around long before as I've only just activated papyrus logging after the issue arose. Tried disabling Better Dark Brotherhood (The Dark Brotherhood Resurrection) as well as deleting both the .esp and .bsa in my data folder as you've done, but my last CTD log still contains the same error in several lines towards the bottom.Any other ideas? Seems odd that it's completely clear from yours but still exist in mine although I've probably taken the same steps as you have. Is there anything else you might have done aside from those? Pretty bummed about my game being unplayable at this stage. :( Looking through the mod's comments, there doesn't seem to be many complaints about this particular error or crashes caused by the mod. This leads me think that it might be something else causing the error, whether the error itself is capable of causing crashes, or whether or not it's just simply a mod conflict or "dirtied" game littered with old/broken scripts.
