JimboUK
No the ps3 originally had ps2 emulation, its a matter of coding. Also the 360 has xbox emulation, back when i had a 360 for the short time when it worked, :teehee: the 60gb had the chip built but the 80gb had straight emulation, it worked but very slowly, because of the limited horse power it had, it couldn't handle the emulation. wih proper tweaking it could of worked, but they removed it after the 120gb slim. The architecture is completely different, it would have to emulate the Cell and everything else in real time, in software. The PS3 was massively more powerful than the PS2 yet it struggled to emulate it. Check out the recommended specs for console emulators on the PC, you need a machine many times more powerful to emulate consoles. @hector530 The social features are a side show, they'll be optional and wouldn't have taken five minutes to implement. The camera is just an upgrade to the Playstation eye, again optional. The touchpad is a good idea, it'll offer additional control. There's no big gimmick like Nintendos god awful controller or the rumoured forced use of Kinect for the X720. The emphasis appears to be on games which is exactly what most people want. Thor.
remember Sony has all the tools and know how to make it happen. they could emulate the chip on a 86x platform, like a emulator does. Nothings impossible unless you try.
Thor.
You seem like you don't know much how emulators work right, though emulation is a touchy subject, its a matter of emulating the game-software, they could bypass the chip all together. Again as i mentioned before its all about coding it right. Edited February 22, 2013 by Thor.
hector530
the PS4 will not play PS3 games.... it will stream them and i dont its just upgrade to the eye, its sony's answer to the kinect. that light in front of the controller is made for this. sony is gonna keep making it till you use it!!! like the move no one wants it, sony brings it back
Thor.
ya streaming it seems the logical step, although you probably would need a decent connection for it work properly, unless its streamlined to work on anything. like 3g and 4g networks,-psvita 3g.i never used the eye or bought one fro that matter, its like the forgot the sixaxis motion controls all together, the only games that used it was Flower and need for speed. There was a few more but not many. Edited February 22, 2013 by Thor.

Nothings impossible unless you try. They don't have a magic wand, that's what they'd need. Emulation means emulating everything, the Cell, memory, the GPU, every component and interaction all in real time. Anyway they've already bought a company that specialises in the online streaming of games, they wouldn't do that and then waste time and money on emulation. @hector530 They haven't forced those on anyone yet so I don't see why they would suddenly start, they're just additional peripherals that people can choose to use or not. Add on crap is hardly a new thing where consoles are concerned.
Thor.
back to that ehh, it won't emulate but stream it. With that interesting custom network chip it might be a pick up and go experience, as some of the game will be downloading in the background or buffering in the background as you play it, something like a video stream. That now might be revolutionary. Although it miiht not work that way sense you are steaming to a handheld or psvita, just how much data that would be buffered could be a problem with that idea. ???? or it could work like Onlive and all you need is the exe to make it work properly Edited February 22, 2013 by Thor. Thor.
<p>the 60gb had the emotion chip built into it as well, i know i owned one, Sadly died on me recently do to the solar paste melting over time. It will happen to any pc or console. Solar paste only lasts so long, it also depends on the quality to.<br /><br />I had it for nearly 7 years<br /> <br />More news, the resolution it will be 1080P at 60fps locked, thank you, no more tearing.
