Hair Texture Houdini

Now you see it, now you don't!

A while back, I downloaded neko1kitty's mod Male Hair Pack and in the preview images, they all look pretty good, but … not so much in-game.

Depending on the camera angle, the texture may pop in for a moment then disappear again. Hence the title.

I've extracted the .bsa file and fixed the texture paths in NifSkope, but I cannot get it to work. My knowledge of textures, NifSkope, etc. is pretty limited, so I'm already out of ideas on what to do.

All I'm asking is that someone point me in the right direction and I'll attempt the rest myself. Thank you kindly!

Looks like a conflicting mod to me, try going through your load order and seeing if you have any body type mods, if that fails try reinstalling the mod, if all else fails try starting a new game and doing a verify steam cache integrity.

Thank you for the suggestions. I disabled my body mods, I even disabled New Vegas Redesigned, and still had the problem. This isn't the first time I've messed with this file, either, and the screenshot I provided is from a new game. I've checked it with FNVEdit before, and it showed a few conflicts with NVR which were fixed by moving FalloutMaleHair.esp below NVR's esps. But like I said, even with NVR disabled the problem persists.

I remain defeated by a hair texture….

Operating System and Installation path?

Windows 7, C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/Fallout New Vegas/Data

I would start by checking one more time that your nif's texture paths are correct. If so, have a look at the ESP, and make sure it isn't using TextureSets to override the model texture paths; if so, try making your own ESP to add the hairstyles for testing.

Alright, after reinstalling the mod for a clean start I figured out the problem: A lot of the texture paths were either wrong or completely missing. They've all been fixed, save two or three due to complications, and that is that. Thank you so much for the help, Xaranth. I appreciate it a lot!
