What's up with the download counter?

Hi there, I noticed a change at the download counter.

The downloads : unique downloads ratio now is on most files 2 : 1.

 

It's not only affecting my files, where the dl : udl ratio even can get close to 3:1

Does that mean that almost every downloader is downloading a file at least twice or did the counter system change? Might be even that some of them have serious trouble downloading?

 

I for my self don't have any excessive problems (some server seems to have problems with very large files though) so I started to wonder.

I agree, there is something very wrong with the unique download counter.

 

I had to re-upload my mods because I changed my username, so my mods have only ever had one file, no updates. And the ratio of downloads to unique downloads is almost 4:1. Something has to be off.

I was thinking it would take no time to get enough downloads to get access to the mod author forums again, but it's going to take a lot longer than I thought.

Maybe if the file is downloaded by using the mod manager, it doesn't count as unique dl?
