Mod organiser killed my game and now I can't launch Skyrim.

Hi Guys.

Okay so MO really went off on one and killed my Skyrim. I was late through the best most stable play through I've had. Only one crash through the entire game.

I came to launch it the other day and it acted like it was a fresh install. Saying that it was the first time I had run MO. All the installed mods had moved into alphabetical order and had been turned off.

Hovering over the save files it was telling me that it was missing master files for mods that I hadn't even used for months. They were still installed just not switched on and ones that were certainly not installed in that save file.

I've resided myself to having to start again as I had no current backup of the load order. I've turned back on the mods that I had been using, and ran everything through LOOT with no errors. Other than a few dirty mods. However Skyrim won't even no as far as the Bethesda title screen. I can't for the life of me figure out why it wont launch.

The VERY strange thing is my lad also has a separate character profile in MO that seems totally untouched and is working fine. Whatever caused MO to have a fit only seems to have affected my profile.

You just learned a valuable lesson: always make a backup of your load order :laugh:

Did it uncheck mods in both panes or just on the right?

No red triangles in the right pane telling you about a missing master?

Is your son's load order radically different from yours, or could you copy his and use it as a starting point?

Unfortunately, the easiest way to figure this out is to disable about half of your mods - making sure to uncheck any mods that get flagged for missing masters because of it - and see if the game will start. If it doesn't, split the remaining bunch in half again and retry until it does. Once you get it started, start working backwards by adding one mod at a time until you replicate the problem, then it's just figuring out why that particular mod is hanging you up.

Also, make sure you check to see what conflicts are being overwritten in the left pane, so you aren't doing something like loading a patch before a mod it depends on.

Okay something very wierd is going on with MO. I've just started it again, and once again it says I'm running it for the first time. Only THIS TIME it's my sons play through that's got wiped. :mad: :mad: :mad: . He's going to be so pissed.......

I ca't figure out why it keeps resetting itself. I'll be honest this isn't the first time this has happened but all other times the mods were untouched.

I'm so angry with whatever the fault is........

Have you tried reinstalling your Visual C++ redistributals?

Where is your MO install located? If it's in someplace like C:Program Files, move your install to a new location. I made a folder called "Games" on my harddrive and put my install there.

Try whitelisting MO with your AV to make sure it isn't flagging the program as a virus for some reason.
