BaIadeur
Hello there, It's now been a couple of days since people figured out how to mod BG3 and I've seen a lot of people requesting a way to hide helmets on reddit and the likes, but saddly there's no mod for it yet. Probably not as attractive as a nude mod I guess?I have some knowledge of modding, but while it is limited, it seems to me that hiding helmets shouldn't be much trouble?Modders have already found ways to hide some armors (the dream lover dress, from the nude mod I mentioned earlier) or the underwears (since the nude model is already baked in the game for romance scenes), so I guess hiding a helmet should be doable as well, using the same method. (Editing the corresponding model files). Now, unlike underwears, I presume there will be an issue doing so : equipping a helmet, even if the model is hidden, will probably hide the hair, making the character go bald. But from the little tinkering I did with BG3 modding (only editing existing files so far), given what we can tweak doing so, there's probably a line somewhere that determines if a helmet hides the players hair or not. However, I'm not knowledgeable enough to actually do it myself (I wish I could), but I'm hoping that with this post, someone will consider taking a look at this. Thanks for reading and keep modding! TheHarrowing
Yeah I would greatly appreciate this personally. Hiding that int circlet is big.
Aamaxu
Hiding helmet is twice as attractive. I don't want my character's finely cared hair to be covered by a Dragon Age Inquisition-tier leather cap
gyrofalcon
Agree!Could it be solved with a "tick-off-field" next to the Item placement? Then we could choose. :)
brandon17
However, I'm not knowledgeable enough to actually do it myself (I wish I could), but I'm hoping that with this post, someone will consider taking a look at this. Well there's only one way to gain that knowledge. Unpack the game and start poking around. The only current method, unless some figures out UI modding, to 'hide helmets' is to go into the game files, find the specific helmet you want to 'hide', and delete the values that reference the item mesh. And then package all of that as it's own mod. For a single helmet. And then if you want to 'show' that helmet, delete the mod. Rinse and repeat as desired. A bit cumbersome and far too inflexible to reasonably expect someone to do. They would have to make a separate mod for each and every helmet in the game, and then also update them as Larian releases game updates. The mere thought of making that, releasing it, and maintaining it makes me nauseous. Larian will eventually add a 'hide helmet' button.
BaIadeur
Finally took some time to delve into the game files, and it turns out hiding helmets wasn't so hard, so I made a mod hiding the currently available helmets. Of course, there's no in game switch, you either have the mod and helmets are hidden, or remove it and have helmets displaying. Pretty basic really, but some people should till enjoy it!Here's the link : https://www.nexusmods.com/baldursgate3/mods/
