I have an AMD Phenom 2 quad core, ATI 5770 and 8 gig of ram, run about 30 mods at medium settings and have played about 150 hours since my last CTD, so have no need. But if my hardware wasn't up to the task, then yes most definitely I would upgrade just to play Skyrim

Would you get a new computer, just to have Skyrim run much better?
Yes i would, ive spent thousands of hours playing elder scrolls games over the past 10 years, so for me it would be a talior made pc, imo.

Hell, im in the process of building a Dual 680, i-7 3750k, (ivy bridge I think), 32 gig RAM build with almost the sole priviso of playing Skyrim on it!!

Jus stick to 8GB RAM maximum for lower cost and better performance/stability. Motherboards do not like so much RAM unless you pay four figure sums for server class boards.

I have done, but mostly I would avoid it and just upgrade some parts if I thought it would help. I don't think that replacing a PC at the same time that a new game comes out counts. No, that would be just a coincidence :)

Yes. But that's mainly because I'm currently stuck with a laptop with a great processor... but Intel HD Graphics. If only I knew the difference between integrated and dedicated graphics cards at the time... *sigh*

And now my Asian parents won't let me get a new one since they know it'll be for gaming! 8D

I did and it hurt in the pocket. I was traditionally a console gamer, but skyrim put an end to that. Never having had a 'gaming' PC I still cringe at how much I spent on a 7970 graphics card last year shortly after they came out (worst time to buy new tech) but don't regret it now. With the amount of hours you put into this game you really might do all you can to enjoy it the most.

Not everyone is in a position to do this tho and I feel for their despair, but their time will come.
