Fallout Launcher

I am running with Vista (with no problems), I have downloaded and instaled G.E.C.K. and serval mods. I have searched, read, and followed all the information I can find on installing and using G.E.C.K., but when mods talk about "Start Fallout Launcher, and click 'Data Files'", I never see the discribed and shown box to 'check' on. When I start G.E.C.K. I see the intalled mods and can open the window that lets me check the plug in's and set up the active file (all this outside the game), just not when starting the game. What am I doing wrong?

Did you install the game in Program Files? Vista protects this folder from editing, and moves any edited files to the Virtual Store. You'll find this if you go to FO3\data and click 'compatibility files' in the top toolbar.

The best way to prevent this is to stop installing games in Program Files... reinstall in C:\Games instead.

Or turn off UAC -- but this is not something I recommend.

I have done as you sugested, uninstalling and re-installing in a new folder named 'Games', installed the patch, and uninstalled and re-installed G.E.C.K.; still no data window opens when I launch FO3....

 I wish it was that simple, but my menu comes up as: Continue

New

Load

Settings

Crew

Live

Quit

Nonono dude go to your Fallout 3 folder and start the fallout3launcher.exe, not the fallout3.exe, then you get to the menu showed above.
