OneOnOne1162
So, you can temper your weapons in Skyrim up to legendary level with your smithing and all that. But what does the game actually DO when you do that? Does it add some sort of tag to the weapon? Does it remove the old weapon and put a new one in your inventory? IsharaMeradin
It removes the old instance of the base object from your inventory and adds a new instance of the base object with whatever higher values the tempering process demands.
OneOnOne1162
It puts a new one in your inventory if I recall right So where does it get the new object from? Like if I tempered a regular iron sword to a legendary iron sword would the "iron sword" be removed from my inventory and is there a "legendary iron sword" weapon somewhere in the creation kit as a separate object that is added? Or is it on a levelled list or something?
IsharaMeradin
There are tempering recipes which require the base weapon object and in return gives the base weapon object. Behind the scenes the game takes the various skill levels and / or perks into account and adds the appropriate improvement level(s) to the new instance of the base weapon object. So is there a script attached somewhere? Because when I look at the "temperdwarvenboots" for example it doesn't seem to have one associated. IsharaMeradin
No script. All handled by the game engine. What is it that you are wanting to do?

What is it that you are wanting to do? o? Want to create an alternate way to temper weapons than using a workbench. But it seems like that might be difficult. I'll figure something out though. >.<
IsharaMeradin
You can create a custom tempering system but it will require different versions of the weapon and a lot of scripting. Take a look at The Huntsman mod for an example of a bow that has different upgrades which affect the weapons various stats.

I was hoping there was a simpler way.
