exanimis
Erm underground? There would be very little light. And certaintly not enough for forests. I think people are getting the wrong idea about Pellucidar. Pellucidar is based on the hollow Earth theory. Imagine blowing up a balloon and watching an ant crawl around on the inside if the balloon. Pellucidar is a world within a world. The player will go down into Nirn (the planet) until gravity switches direction then they will be coming up into Pellucidar. Pellucidar has blue skies, rain and snow, oceans, rivers and continents just like anywhere else. It also has it's own sun and moon. Explinations are in the books. Anyone interested in reading the first book in the series can download it HERE and who knows, you may become a fan.
dezdimona
they should read the books, then they'll know.
VincentAlliath
I'm not arguing against it. There isn't any way that it's logically possible, though. There's two kinds of logic here. Like God.Some people will see Logic in Pellucidar. Some people won't. I don't, but it's in a video game now, so I don't care.Depending on the explanation in the book, I'm very likely not to become a fan for strict, logical reasons. But I'll read it to understand this mod.
exanimis
Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote the stories, he also created Tarzan. He has been dead for more than 50 years so there isn't any copyright infringement with my making this into a mod. That is also why you can download the books for free. Since the books were written more than fifty years ago they are "dated" in some aspects, for example, the woman in the story is simply referred to as Dian the beautiful and serves no other purpose than to give the male hero a goal ( to free her) These are not modern logical works of science fiction, they are fiction. They are not the best stories ever written but they are an easy and entertaining read. I read them as a young teen and enjoyed them enough to have remembered them all these years later. My Pellucidar mod will not be the world Burroughs wrote about but it will and should be recognizable by the fans of his works. The continent that I have built for this mod follows the area that the adventurers first "landed" in Pellucidar to the best of my abilities. The shape of it and the location of major cities are as close to Burroughs vision as I could get them. Some of the races and creatures will change while others will remain the same and I will add some of my own creatures to the mod, but it should still remain a recognizable world. These were merely adventures in a strange world filled with prehistoric beasts and sub-human cavemen. The mod should offer no more, no less than an entertaining and fun adventure. So you're saying that because it's old, it can deny logic as much as it wants? Or because it's fiction it's allowed to deny logic? Either way... let's all get over it, and get back on track. It doesn't particularly matter. This is going to be (or is highly likely to be, if we all get our arses into gear) a great mod. LET'S DO THIS THANG. exanimis
This is going to be (or is highly likely to be, if we all get our arses into gear) a great mod. LET'S DO THIS THANG.Agreed and I have been working on it for months. For the first time in my life, I am close to seeing the world I have always dreamed of visiting. Luckily for the people who bought or will by Oblivion, they will get to see it as well. I've noticed a lot of posts in the last few months by people who want to see dinosaurs in their game, I'm going to give them that. With help from people like yourself, maybe it'll be a little sooner and a little better.
VincentAlliath
Sooner? That only depends on how fast you can feed me idea bases. I just need a base to work off, then it depends on whether your hands can match the speed of mine.
exanimis
Some ideas are on the SA forum. Almost anything could be written into this mod.
wasder
Even a rhino?(Oh, and about the hollow earthness, it may be completely impossible but hey, it's a game.) And you go do this "THANG"!
