Sawyer mod merchant fix...

Trying to fix Sawyers mod. He added some unique armors to a few merchants, Cliff Briscoe, Mick and maybe one or two others, but these armors only stay in their inventory for 3 days once they are first activated/talked to and then get removed when the merchant refreshes their inventory. I tried to compare a few of the armors I found in the GECK to That Gun, which I know stays in Cliff Briscoes inventory regardless of refresh, but I haven't seen anything that points to getting these armors to perform similarly.

 

 

There is a mod on the Nexus that attempts to fix this, but it doesn't work.

I've heard that ultimate might have fixed this problem, but I'm not interested in that version of the mod and prefer the original. I've been looking around in the GECK and have located a lot of these armors, but I'm unsure about how to change them in any way to make them act like other merchant bought unique items.

So using that mod that didn't work, I'm editing it in GECK and I found the unique containers that were added to contain these items, and I'm curious if applying an owner to the item is what is needed to fix the problem. None of the other merchant containers seem to have owners for their contents, though. Guess I'll change this and test it.

 

The curious example is Vendortron, who is a critter apparently and can't be added as an NPC owner, but that box also contains items I've never had a problem with while using the original Sawyer mod - those items all stay in the shop regardless. It's just the unique armors Sawyer added that get wiped, of which I don't think Vendortron even contains any. According to the mod, it's just Cliff, Mick and now Torres (who received the Boomer armors).

 

I guess another option is to add those items to Vendortrons box and see if that works.

Well, applying an owner to the items seems to have worked for keeping them in their inventory after the refresh, at least for Cliff. Not sure what else changed in this mod though, and that somewhat worries me. I suppose I'll have to play another game and see what the longterm effects are.

 

Also learned that, supposedly, a merchant can only have 1 vendor chest assigned to them as an owner, which may have been the problem with the disappearing armor fix mod, as he had created another vendor chest for the sawyer items, and since they were moved in to those, I'm guessing that it removed them from the vendor list since they were no longer assigned to that vendor.

I have not. I have managed to fix Cliff Briscoe so far, but Mick didn't have the new armors that were given to him. Hadn't checked Torres yet cause I don't get far enough in the game to look. My most recent change was just moving all the unique armors to Cliff, which appears to have worked for some, but not all of the armors for some reason.
