nt5raham
Is there a log file of some sort that can help diagnose a CTD issue? I am currently getting a CTD when attempting to enter Candlehearth Hall. I'm betting it is a follower mod issue with one of my recently installed followers that is initially spawned in that location. Is there a log I can check that will point out the culprit? (Aside from the disable-one-mod-at-a-time method of diagnosing. That is not easily done in my current situation.) saurusmaximus
You can try enabling papayrus logging but TBH, it really isn't all that useful for troubleshooting CTDs. If you think it's one of your followers and you don't want to try disabling them to troubleshoot (understandable) try this: Load up your game and then open the console. Type in: save funclist 1 Your game will temporarily freeze - if you have a lot of mods installled, it might take a minute or two - and then a text file should open up. Use CTRL+F and type in the name of the follower(s) you are looking for, keeping in mind they will have more than one entry in the file, the entry you are looking for is usually the second listing. In the far left column their RefID will be listed, then their name. Make a note of that, then go back into your game (it should still be open) and use the prid and moveto player commands to move them outside of the house. Make them wait, then, try and go in and see if the game still crashes or not. I tried to insert a picture of what the file looks like, but the nexus won't let me. Lemme know if you have any other questions.
nt5raham
Thanks for the info, but I have been using funclist for a while now. And that is an option, but it still requires a one-by-one diagnostic procedure. I have created a monster, 1,400 mods, and several hundred of them are follower mods. In asking for a log file of some sort I was hoping for something to instantly narrow it down. Am I dreaming?
saurusmaximus
Several hundred followers? And I thought I was bad  I'm guessing a large number of them spawn in Candlehearth, hence the problem? The only thing I can think of to try is to load up all of your follower mods in xEdit, then right-click on the left side of the screen and select "Apply Filter"-Check the box by "EditorID Contains" and in the box type: WindhelmCandlehearthHall-In the middle column, check the box for "Cell-cell"-Hit the "Filter" button on the bottomIf I'm right, that should give you all of the records that modify Candlehearth Hall, so you can at least narrow it down to which mods to look at. You'll still have to figure out their refid's, etc... but it's a start. Good luck!
nt5raham
Ahh, now that's a good idea! And FYI, I've already solved this particular problem, but each time it happens I say I'm going to find a better way than disabling plugins. :) Thanks for the suggestion! saurusmaximus
I'm glad you got it figured out. So was it a misbehaving follower then?
nt5raham
Yes, and the mod porter wasn't happy. Once I singled out the follower, I tried the CBBE version and the UUNP...one worked normally, the other CTD. I moved the follower to an external cell a distance off, and the problem stayed with the follower (so I know it wasn't related to the specific location). I just switched body types on this particular follower and went my happy way, and it's up to the porter now to figure it out.
