Fallout 3 GOTY Black Screen

I just bought FO3 GOTY today, and have had problems with making it work. i have an intel B830 CPU, intel HD graphics (i am using d3d9.dll so it thinks i have nvidia graphics, but it makes the game run at a black screen all the time!) 4 GB RAM, and a whole lot of frustration.

At first, i couldn't get the game to run at all, so i installed games for windows live. then it ran to the loading screen, but crashed, so i got d3d9.dll to fix that. now it just runs a black screen with full audio all the time.

FO3 was built using Nvidia graphics cards gf 8,9 and gtx200 series. If you have a better card installed the better your performance. If you are using a pc or laptop without an add in graphics card you could experience what you describe. The fix is to install a graphics card equal to or better than what is mentioned here.

you have NO 3D support with that unit;

How ever, there may be a slight chance this one fix on the nexus may help.

Please give that a try, and for the record, GFWL will also prevent the game from running on that device.

You will need the games for windows Live disabler found here on the nexus and the fake live dll found in the fomm mod manage suite, tweak installer.
