Shadeybladey
I have SOS The Wilds 1.0.2 Full and SOS The Dungeons 1.11 Full with patch 1.8 and they are still working fine. I understand they were hidden because the City sounds had conflicts with something. Anyone know if they will ever be resurrected, as I'd like to continue using them with patch 1.9. Cheers! LargeStyle
It wasn't a conflict issue - there were reports that not only did the mod(s) cause performance and stability issues, but also apparently caused savegame bloating. I believe it was only the Civilisations version that was the main module at fault, but either way they were all hidden / removed. I don't know the full circumstances behind it all and I never even used the SoS mods, but as far as the mod returning goes then I guess that'll simply depend on the mod authors (unknown) intentions. Korodic
If all the work I did screwed up a game save like that, I'd probably quit too... It's not fun seeing your work destroy saves.
Shadeybladey
Yes, it's a great shame. They did the job perfectly for a wilderness wandering dungeon crawler like me. Sometimes, mods get overly sophisticated when they should have remained as they were. Apparently, it was when the configuration menus went in things started going astray. One fan described it as flying too close to the Sun with that update. If the mod author sees this, I'd love them to be resurrected just to do what they say on the tin - add sounds to the wilderness and the dungeons. I can understand the pressures of publishing mods - I have made only three - some Druid spells, a mini quest for smithing silver and mithril weapons and a colour scheme for the map markers. As well-tested and problem-free as they are, I know I don't have the time or skill to fix things to take account of Skyrim's stealth patches etc. So I've not uploaded them any where. Cheers! Shadey, are you saying The Wilds 1.21 + The Dungeons 1.11 are not compatible with 1.9? I recently restarted Skyrim and I want to avoid an early modding errors straight away. I checked the files and I don't detect any scripts, so in theory these versions should be safe, correct? Like already has been mentioned, it was The Cities version that initially caused the save game issues. Also, if these can still be used, are there any particular things I ought to be wary of? Shadeybladey
Not at all, I am saying I am still using patch 1.8 and The Wilds 1.02 and The Dungeons 1.11 have worked perfectly for me since patch 1.5 or thereabouts. I have not tried updating to 1.9 yet, but when I went to the Nexus mod page they are still hidden. It was The Cities and the scripts for configuration menus that caused problems, so the author hid them all, which is a great shame. Then, when people removed The Wilds and The Dungeons in panic, they got save bloat. More mug them.SkyUI is going the same way. It may well suffer the same Death from Over-Sophistication the way it's going.Cheers!~ Edited March 29, 2013 by Shadeybladey
Cameler1989
I think that the author of Climates of Tamriel has created his own version of that mod, but much improved. The release date is in a couple of hours, so it should be fun to see how it is implemented with the climates portion of his mod.
