Philogosten
Now I play this game far too much and mostly I end up replaying the same mage character since he is by far the most fun. Though you would think that a mage who is rather in the very dark area of grey morality would not get along with a former Templar yet they turn out to be best friends. They both joke around whenever possible which is what originally made them get along. When Duncan died the Warden felt bad for Alistair as Duncan was all he had in regards to family and he could relate since all he had was Jowan who was like a brother to him who he thinks he failed to save him, instead Jowan ran off without the woman he loved and then that girl was taken to Aeonar. He wanted to stand his ground and take on the Templars and Irving solo while his friend and his friends lover escaped but he just froze up. So he knows the guilt Alistair feels over thinking that he could have saved Duncan if he was in the battle. The two end up being able to relate to each other a lot despite that one is a mage who uses many forms of dark magic and is in a relationship with Morrigan and the other is more of a very morally white former Templar who dislikes blood magic. Too bad Leliana and Alistair did not get together since the mage after hearing Alistair was a virgin wanted to get him some action from"Princess Stabbity" as he likes to call her ever since Alistair made that joke which convinced him to let her join their party. So who is Alistair to the either most current Warden you play as or your favorite one?
Kajana
Oh, these are always fun and very interesting!!! My favorite warden and the one I play just about exclusively now is my female human noble rogue. She is fierce, sensible, cunning, with a sharp tongue and a good heart. She was raised to rule and wants to do something important with her life. She understands the greater good but also there are lines you can't cross. Her and Alistair hit it off immediatly. He remindere her so much of her brother and his brand of friendly teasing and sense of humor would have fit right in with her entire family. She understands completely what he is going through with Duncan for she feels the same about her parents. They become great friends and they fight as a team, with him a tank and her a dexterity/cunning based rogue, they develop complimentary skills and soon they are a force fighting together. She encourages him to stand up for himself and he supports her. They become closer and closer as the months go by until one day he happens to mention in passing that he thinks she is beautiful and she realizes that she doesn't mind hearing that from him and everything changes. It is a whirlwind romance that ends with his coronation and their wedding. The great friendship that slowly develops into romance is my favorite story. And for her the dark ritual is a no-brainer, she loves him and whatever it takes to keep them together and alive is worth it. My male human noble warrior sees Alistair like a little brother. In that he really would have fit right into the Cousland household and he had alwasy been the younger. By the end of it all, he really does think of him as family. And if given the option, would have put up the money for Alistair to have a night at the Pearl. (that seriously should be an option!)
demonlizzie
My female Dalish rogue is cunning, sarcastic, witty and quite morally grey. In the beginning, she has difficulties when it comes to accepting her fate as a Grey Warden. Leading this life seems repelling and she simply refuses to even consider enjoying it. So, obviously, she'd not be thrilled being faced with the arch-demon without having others back her up. In the very beginning of their journey, she accepts it as a suicide mission. She still thinks a lot about Tamlen, and she's more than ready to meet him in death. However, the longer she thinks about everything Duncan said, the more she grows to think that maybe, she's doing the right thing, for once. Upon realising that 'In war, victory. In peace, vigilance. In death, sacrifice.' isn't that bad of a motive, she accepts who she now is. And that's when she also begins to warm up to Alistair. Even though she begins to understand his humor (thought she did consider it a very, er, human humor until Morrigan told her that even humans sometimes wouldn't understand his jokes), she will never be able to console him when it comes to Duncan's death. She understands their relationship and she knows that Duncan was a strong and wise man who deserves her utter respect -- but she's still in grief and therefore inept when it comes to the matter of consoling. Alistair and Lilith Mahariel have a strong friendship once their journey ends. However, they never quite became lovers, for only Zevran could sweep her off her feet and make her happy. ********************************* Then there's my female human warrior. She's fierce, trustworthy, honest and tried to be 'good' as much as possible. However, the journey taught her to make hard decisions, too. She almost immediately idolized Duncan after he had saved her -- he was caring, understanding, just had something fatherly about him. Eden Cousland just sensed that he really did care about how she felt. And then, he was gone. There shared respect for Duncan led them to immediately feel mutual understanding. Even thought her own past was terrible, Eden was more than eager to console Alistair. Every little joke was honestly funny and every little banter was cherished. Even though she didn't like the leader role first, she accepted it during the Redcliffe quest. One of the happiest moments for her? When she retrieved the amulet of Alistair's mother. It felt good to make him happy. Upon seeing his smile just then, she knew she was in love with him. And after he gave her that rose? Let's just say that she had to suppress giggling like school girl and doing happy dances. She wasn't one to be so overly cheery, but love does strange things to you. Afterwards, she helped him find Goldanna. Not to mention, she really didn't grow to like that woman. Obviously, she told the woman off, defending 'her' Alistair very openly. Alistair showed a lot of gratitude. Probably around that time he realised that she wasn't just a crush to him -- no, she was the woman. Hopefully his woman. Which she did become after they had slain the arch-demon. Eden Cousland ruled as Alistair's queen. Edited May 12, 2013 by demonlizzie
