greyday01
I've completed this quest. It is at stage 200. I'm the Harbinger and have been greeted like this at Jorrvaskr. I've seen Kodlak at Sovengaard. Problem: I can't drop the witches heads. I can't drop Ysgramor's Axe. The companions won't leave the tomb and there is no follow me option. I've tried using prid and moveto player to get all 3 back to Jorrvaskr which worked, but then they ran right back to the tomb. This is one buggy quest. Any suggestions for a fix? Gorgopis
@greyday01, Your posts are thoughtful, suggesting you know Skyrim better than I, but here are some suggestions you've likely tried? 1) In-game, in the quest journal, make sure you have no quests checked, except for the Companions Quest, if it's still in there as active. If it's still active, though you're seeing it in console as at stage 200, then an earlier stage of the overall quest may be incomplete? If the whole quest has been moved to your in-game completed quests list, then you will need to try workarounds.2) So next, in console, use Player.sqs_id where the id number is the whole Companions Quest id, and scan all the intermediate stages arrayed in console. Each stage should have a 1 next to it, if done, or a 0 next to it if missed somehow. 3) In console, if you find an incomplete intermediate stage, use SetStage quest_id stage_number to advance that specific stage of the overall quest to complete it. Try going in order from first to last, if you find any incomplete stages? When all are done, test results in game. (This has worked for me on a broken quest.) 4) In game, see if you can drop all the witches' heads into the cauldron, in the final chamber, for getting rid of lycanthropy. Maybe you can remove them all that way?5a) In game, return to the beginning of the dungeon, and see if you can place Wuuthrad back onto Ysgramor's statue, return to the final chamber, drop the heads in the fire, return to start and grab Wuuthrad again? I like Wuuthrad as a 2H weapon, sometimes, and I like to enchant it with Fear\Turn Undead.5b) In game, see if you can return to the final chamber, and re-run ALL of the dialogue options with all the nearby companions about you're being the new Harbinger. Play these dialogue lines all the way out. Next, try and take Farkas all the way back to Whiterun, all the way INSIDE Jorrvaskr, then sleep or rest, and give the rest of the Companions time to find their way home. Do some other stuff. This will most likely work.6) In game, visit Jorrvaskr and sleep in the Harbinger's bed for 24 hours, and see if the Companions show up, and if you can drop those items.7a) In game, in Ysgramor's final chamber, open the console, try pcb, to reset the cell buffers. Exit console. Hit F4. Save game. (Suggest not writing over an existing save.) Open console, type player.kill. Skyrim will reload your character and location, and often reset the cell. Hard save again. (See step 8, and then come back here.) Now, Check the results. 7b) You can also check the wikis to see how to set up a clean save at your current level of progress, with the accelerated 30-day wait method, as the entire game resets everything after a 30-day wait, I think.) After step 7a above, before checking results and traveling in game, exit game to Skyrim menu, then exit SR menu to desktop. Restart SR. And load as "Continue." Now travel around to see if the Quest has improved. Step 7a worked for me to reset a broken Skaal quest in Solstheim. 9) Load an earlier save if you have one, before the final companions quest, and check the quest stages in that load, to see if one got missed. Compare the details of the earlier save game inventory items etc. to the glitched final save game.10) In console, type player.showinventory, and get the id numbers for the stuff you want to drop. Then try in console, player.removeitem <id number> to remove the unwanted items from your inventory. You can always look up Wuuthrad in console or Windshear and add these to your inventory anyway, even if you haven't done those quests.11) You can try standing in front of each stuck companion, in game, opening the console, target the companion so their id number pops up, type disable + enter, and then enable + enter. This can sometimes reset a bugged NPC. Good Luck! This forum editor puts an emoji where I want step 8 above.
