nenina
A mod that adds npcs -> Crowded Cities 2.1, lesser 30 versionOr a mod that adds a lot more architecture - Better Cities? I would think that it would be the lesser version of Crowded Cities, because Better Cities looks like it adds a ton. Then again, actors are actors. Dreamsxord
I felt like better cities slowed me down way more than crowded cities but it was worth it... i have both. but I dunno what kinda lag you've got going
nenina
but I dunno what kinda lag you've got going. The loading kind. I installed Crowded Cities. When I enter the IC Market District it seems sluggish for a second or two but goes back to normal. May be my imagination, but could be a tiny slowdown when actors are in my view. Oh, wait. Maybe Oblivion Stutter Remover is limiting my frames. Anyway after looking through the comments of Better Cities, I don't think I will install it. Some complaints about breaking quests, as the author chose to edit some dialogue and change scripts. Instead, I think I will go for Unique Landscapes after backing up my now 17.5 GB Oblivion data folder. Thank you for you input! Crowded Cities also does not put travelers on the road. Perhaps http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/4387 this mod can fill the cities and roads at the same time. Edited March 15, 2013 by nenina
weltall
Just to add my opinion. Better Cities are indeed "better". Or more like different and bigger. The amount of stress Crowded Cities adds is different from Better Cities though. Like you said, The CC will vary depending how many people it has to load, while BC will always load more polygons, textures and whatever else is loaded, depending on where you are. I choose to play with BC, because it makes the cities look really nice and up to the point i was, no sidequest I did were bugged. If I were you I would try to visit places without BC and then with them. Also if 1 or 2 minor sidequests would bug, I would not care enough to not install such an awesome and immersive mod. d181sp1
I've run BC and it's a great mod. I had a conflict with something, forget what and had to whack it though. With your video card it won't be an issue. Never tried CC but I'd think a lot of actors would be more cpu intensive and while you've got an older one, the Wolfdale core is still a good chip. As for the UL pack, you should have got that the second you found this site. It's so full of awesome that it makes even strong men cry. Loading lag never went away for me until I got an SSD. d181sp1
I use that Tamriel Travelers mod too, it's a keeper.
nenina
I don't know if this helps, but it 'seems' to help me with humanoid actors on screen. D3D9.dll for nVideahttp://www.newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34778 D3D9.dll for ATIhttp://www.newvegas.nexusmods.com/mods/34970 Put the version of that file relevant to your card into the root Oblivion folder for some help with facegen actors on screen.
