the more i learn about vanilla skyrim the more disgusted i am with how halfassed it was outside of the physical geography and would be unplayable without all the great mods. sadly there isn't anything really good in terms of the college. There is http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/17417 which adds some quests. I havent done it yet. There is another quest that allows tolfdir to be archmage since obviously the dragonborn doesnt really earn it however this mod is broken ive heard. We definitely need an improved winterhold questline.

i have a lot of mods including many city additions and immersive patrols interesting npcs and travelers of skyrim. they're worth it but it sucks if that is the case cuz illusion mage is like my fav thing to play.

I always used to be mystified by guys playing as girls but then I heard someone explain it was better scenery and after starting I now play mostly female characters lol. It really is awesome.

I was wearing the stormcloak armor. I understand that someone could know you're there if you are invisible based on your sound but I was barefoot in the snow.. Even if you could hear me from 100 feet away like the troll that ran straight at me or the mages that fired ice spikes at me, how would you know exactly where I was at if I went invisible before I even came into range on a huge windy mountain. I was not even close to them and they started coming right at me from like 100 feet away. At least I know now that this is intended, awkward as it is.

im in a snowy tundra, i know theres a troll up ahead, I use the thief shadow power before he becomes a red dot on my radar, he runs right past the goats and punches me into the afterlife. straight up broken At first I just thought it was the spell where you go invis for 10 sec then move back to where you started.. enemies always attacked me when I was using that so I could never use hidden scorpion on them, but now after googling it a lot of people have this problem. Wtf is the point of illusion/invisibility or thief power if you have to stealth to be undetectable?

Ive looked into population mods too because it was something that was successfully modded in oblivion, but in skyrim the population mods are either derelict or unstable. The only things I've found to give a sense of an actual place where people live(besides some town expansion mods that also add npcs) is immersive patrols and travelers of skyrim. Jobs of skyrim adds a bunch of npcs but they are anti immersion imo because they just stand in one spot day or night rain or shine and have nothing to say besides their offer (its also no longer supported come to think of it). Oh forgot, INTERESTING NPCS is a freaking Essential mod! It definitely improves things a lot. But yea, skyrim is really hurting for more npc/population immersion mods.

Mage college badly needs more progression and also it doesnt make sense for you to automatically become archmage. The Tolfdir alternative is not fully functional some say.
