TheSeptet
Hello, I'm having a problem with a new install of Skyrim. I recently had to wipe my computer clean, and Skyrim worked very well before that. But now it crashes as soon as I double-click TESV.exe or click play from the Skyrim Launcher. I have no mods installed as of yet, nor any DLC. Here's a video of the crash: I've tried the sound thing. I've got the update installed. I've tried the unofficial patch. Nothing is working, and I'm at a loss here.
Georgiegril
You do not appear to be connected to Steam, so that would cause your crash.
Vulon
^ Yup. Is it a legal copy of the game? You should be forced to connect to Steam with Skyrim if it's legit.
TheSeptet
It's a backup I made of a retail copy, not a Steam download. I've installed from both the original disc, and the image I made a few years back, neither is working. Does the retail version also use Steam? I'd never noticed it before. In any case, I always have Steam running, I just generally have it going in the background, minimized.
Georgiegril
Go to steam and log off (if you are logged in, looks like you are not) then log back on. You must have skyrim running in your steam library to work. If you do not see that steam recognizes that you have Skyrim, you will need to reupload your license key and go through the process of installing it to steam. LadyMilla
Neither a backup copy nor a legal Steam version uses the installation path that is seen in the video.Only pirated copies are known to use that path.If you do have a legal Steam version, you can submit proof in your unban appeal.Topic locked.-LM
