Shadeybladey
Hi, I played Skyrim Oldrim + DLC like every day from release to Feb 2014, then finally got into an MMO which was even more addictive! Now I am back into Skyrim and want to update all my own mods for SLE and USLEEP, plus get updated mods by other authors for SLE. I have no interest in SSE atm. This is not really a problem. Two things that still slightly irritate me are that: 1) When I Enchant an item, I cannot give it a name, like "Gloves of Alchemy". They are still called "Gloves" and it's a pain to hover over all the items in Inventory to see what they do. I have "Gloves of Blacksmithing", "Gloves of Alchemy" and "Gloves of Enchanting", but they are all called "Gloves"! Plus, I have every other possible item that can be enchanted for crafting, and they all have the same names, eg 6 "Gold and Sapphire Rings", 2 for each craft! I use Categorized Favorites Manu, and although it is extraordinarily useful (and, for my money, better than SkyUI favouriites), I cannot see within the CFM menu what the gloves etc do, they are just multiple sets of favourited gloves, all called Gloves. (Yes, I can make Equip Sets, but they do not always work 100%). 2) When I make a potion I cannot choose a name for it. EG, the game calls it Fortify One-Handed or Fortify Sneak, even if it does both. I want to call it Shadow Warrior. So, is it possible to make a mod to give customised names to Potions and Enchated items, or has someone already done it while I've been away? I would be SO gratefuil for any tips! Will I have to create a zillion custom recipes and constructed objects? Cheers! :D

IsharaMeradin
I thought enchanting allowed naming items by default. From the UESP Wiki: http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Enchanting When enchanting an item, you can rename it. The name you choose appears in all capital letters in the enchanting interface, but it will use the capitalization you specify in the inventory and favorites menus. The name is limited to 32 characters. Renamed items retain their IDs at the lower level of the game; a script that checks for possession of an item will still work even after the item has been renamed. Unlike in the rest of the enchanting process, time is paused while the rename option is open, which is handy if you are using a short-lived Fortify Enchanting potion and need time to look over the available enchantments for the item.If you cannot rename your enchanted items, perhaps you have a mod that is interfering with the process. As far as alchemy goes, there isn't a way to change the name at creation time. But with Jaxonz Renamer you can drop a stack of items onto the ground and then rename it using the mod's features. At least that is what I have read, I have never used the mod myself. Regarding the captcha stuff, it has nothing to do with whether you are logged in or not. It just checks to see if you have done a recent virus scan of your system. If not, it does the captcha thing. Probably because computers running bots do not necessarily run virus scans and thus helps prevent "bad things" on the server side.
Shadeybladey
OK, cheers, I'll check those out. Maybe I enchanted the item without naming it first, expecting to be able to name it when I enchanted it? I could well have mods interfering, I'll check. The Renamer, that would be good if I didn't have to drop them on the ground. Putting them in a chest or barrel would be better, but I'll check it out. I don't want 50 potions scattering as single items! I did that once with Bag Of Holding, I dropped everything in Whiterun and it was like a tidal wave! That Captcha, I was suddenly taken to web site I didn't recognise and it scared the crap out of me. Why on EARTH would I virus scan my own TEXT post to a forum? Ever? Cheers! RichWebster
The reason you have to drop the items is because the scripting only works on the Object Reference, which isn't accessible from a container (unless tracked beforehand).
Shadeybladey
Actually, it DOES work in containers and my inventory bag, mostly, although sometimes it might not and the renamed items won't stack anymore even if they are identical in power. It worked fine to rename my gear items Alchemy Ring 8%, Alchemy Necklace 8% and so on. I had a little more trouble with some potions. But thanks SO much to IsharaMeradin for suggesting it! I made some Venom of Paralysis which also Damage Health, so now they are called Venom of Paralytic Health Damage! But with Jaxonz Renamer you can drop a stack of items onto the ground and then rename it using the mod's features. Cheers! :D
Shadeybladey
As far as alchemy goes, there isn't a way to change the name at creation time. Is this like a known fact, where people have tried to make a mod that allows it? Cheers! :D
IsharaMeradin
As far as alchemy goes, there isn't a way to change the name at creation time. Is this like a known fact, where people have tried to make a mod that allows it? Cheers! :D The game is "hard coded" (read that as at the engine level) to automatically name the potion however the heck it wants... LOL There is this mod which will at the very least give a name that reflects all of the effects present: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/56347/?According to the description page, it is possible to edit / create a file to give specific names or prevent the re-naming. But I've never used it so... only going by what I read. Otherwise, the only recommendation that I have ran across would be to use Jaxonz Renamer (already linked earlier in the thread).
