chacotaco91
Hi there, hope I don't draw too much flak from this post for being anti-lore. My personal tastes in fantasy have always oriented more towards a world like G.R. Martin's Game of Thrones. For myself, that means I like my fictional worlds to be bleak, intolerant, medieval, sexist, racist, realistic and violent.....i.e. gritty. As I played Skyrim, I always disliked attacking bandit camps and finding that half the criminals were attractive females. I rolled my eyes when common soldiers wore magical/elvish equipment, and over-sized anime style weapons were being wielded by scrawny-armed imperial women. Don't you hate walking around Skyrim and seeing that everyone was going sleeveless in a land of supposedly unforgiving winters? No, skyrim shouldn't be changed to be replicate 13th century england with no magic or elves or non-steel materials; I just like my fantasy elements done as low-key as possible. So I went on skyrim nexus hoping to fix this problem, only to find that probably 5% of mods orient towards my kind of aesethic while the rest seem to make the game feel like an episode of Inuyasha. I've found some that fix this but please help me find more: (please don't start flaming this thread with "female warriors are realistic! you're just being sexist!) Its just a matter of taste for me, and I feel that many other players feel the same way and find difficult finding mods that fit that preference on the nexus. Mods I'm looking for but can't find: eliminate/reduce females from level lists. Also, one that reduces number of NPC who use magic. Ones I've found that fit my "taste": http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13202 killable children http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/24399 Immersive Loot and Cells http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/16364 realistic size for maces http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14175 The secret of Steel http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12506 The Chronicles of Steel http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3296 Less sexual female armor http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/22684 Iron Armor Variant with Sleeves http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/10740 (not medieval, but feels more realistic) Thanks! GothicKnight
The Chronicles of Steel and the Legion stuff as well as the less sexual female armor is pretty cool. I have made some stuff that are Dark Age or Viking themed, but it's only for M&B Warband.http://img845.imageshack.us/img845/2261/mb12j.jpghttp://img28.imageshack.us/img28/3110/germanicspatha1.pnghttp://img5.imageshack.us/img5/6731/germanicspathapraven.png
Jaradin
You sound like you're describing Skyrim post modding, because I've never had that sort of experience with the vanilla game. That being said, I respect your desire to make Skyrim more of a "dark" fantasy experience, as I am also a fan of Martin's vision. So I implore you to continue with your direction. ponyboy10
Personally, I like to think of Nords as having a superhuman toughness and resistance to the cold, and similarly for the women. In a way, the Elder Scrolls universe is both very segregated but also very equal-opportunistic. Edit: as the person above said, though, I do like where you're headed. chacotaco91
I'd like to update with a few more mods I found. Sadly, some haven't been updated in quite a while but hopefully that will change. If not, I think they should still work as intended: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/8781 SBO-Skyrim Blade Overhaul. Great mod that makes some of the blade meshes thinner to give them a less blocky/anime look. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/23115/ Masculinized Level Lists: Mod is old, not sure how well it works on top of other mods, but since I've played makes bandits much more likely to be male! Seems like a must anyway. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/5711 This mod is a must: makes those arrows longer so it no longer feels like your shooting with some little tikes bow-n-arrow practice set. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25963: Guards Armor Replacement: I like this replacer, makes the guards feel more militia/medieval for me. Will come back if I find more! And please, if you read this post, help me find more mods like this!
No6
Oh, wow! I didn't know that there were others like me who frown upon 100 pound females swinging a 50 pound double axe or pulling a 75 pound bow! On my last walkthrough I manually removed all female (non-named) bandits and guards from levelled lists. Now I have help! Thank you for starting this thread! SpandexMonkey
I you're looking for more immersion, I suggest the "Wet and Cold" mod. It makes eveyone put on warm gear when it rains or snows. I feel it adds a decent realism effect.http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27563/? "BYOG", might also be something worth looking into. I don't personllay use it, but from what I can understand you could potentialy nerf magic out of existence.http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18474/?tab=1&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fmoddescription%2F%3Fid%3D18474%26preview%3D&pUp=
MortalKombat240500
I also agree. If anyone has any skill with creation kit (I am level 0 :ermm: ). Anyway, I wanted iron, steel, steel plate, fur and leather (and any other "realistic" ones) to be buffed, while the fantasy ones would be nerfed out of existence. jackowonderful
i think sleevless is fine. it's not like england (read; scotland) is in the arctic circle. you can get mods that remove fantasy equips, though game of thrones is pretty riddled with magic and magic swords, and ones that remove females from most level lists. i've seen both. not sure if equips need a buff, you can max resistance in both. that and skytweak or a combat overhaul too up general damage should do fine. not sure if much of the armour is really even that fantasy, even elven is just a diferent type of metal, maybe just cut out the enchanted versions from spawning -i haven't seen a mod for that but you could probably do it yourself pretty easily. get rid of glass though. ArtMurder
I do agree, even as someone who enjoys fantasy a lot, seeing tiny women in fur armor that doesn't cover their middrift or their arms at all, rush at me with a GIANT are or hammer every time I encounter ANY group of bandits is just plan immersion breaking. About half the bandits, guards, and other various enemies in the game are female, and this is very unrealistic. I do not mean this in a remotely sexist way, just that LOGICALLY in a cold, harsh, brutal place like skyrim where I have to fight to stay alive in full clad heavy armor and crazy magic, to see random chicks running around in barely any armor at all making up half the population of bandits and guards, makes all my hard effort feel silly. With some enemies it's okay, like say vampires and mages. But bandits and guards? They should be at least 3/4ths male... There have been times I've killed groups of 6-7 bandits and only one amongst them was male. ._. I also feel that large weapons should have some sort of limiter on them, only letting certain characters wield them. At least it's not as bad as Oblivion, where a tiny wood elf chick in normal every day clothes pulls an 80 lb, 6 foot long unholy deadric godhammer out of her shirt every 5 minutes.
