Load Screen freeze Great Sigil Stone

After I acquire the Great Sigil Stone, the Load Screen will freeze. My general gameplay does not freeze. Any ideas on how I might be able to correct this? Thanks.

Edit: Found this option for a similar problem at another website,

quote - " Try deleting the game data (NOT the save data, it's in the other data folder!!). This usually fixes most if not all issues with Oblivion. It'll be slow for a bit as it reinstalls, but you can live with that, right? "

So I have another question. Where do I find the game data?

Do not take any notice of that dubious 'advice', unless you want to completely uninstall everything and start again. The 'Data' folder is where Oblivion places all of it's assets, and it's where your mod assets go, too. If you delete it, your game will not work, period.

As for your Sigil stone problem, how many mods do you have installed, and how many plugins (OBSE, OBGE, etc.)?

I have 127 mods. One is OBGE Liquid water mod and one is OBSE -Elys- Universal Silent Voice.

Edit: I had taken into consideration that the issue might be a mod issue. However, even with all the mods that I have active including the two mentioned above, I have never had this freeze problem during any other time of gameplay. The problem could still be mod related though I suppose.

Edit: Ok, so I finally was able to stop the Load Screen freeze and complete the main quest. Basically, I had to do two things. First, I deactivated some recent mods that I thought might be problems. However, this also included spending extra time going through my Oblivion folders to manually remove specific mods I had discontinued. Deactivation is not enough I guess for certain mods for the purpose of completely removing them. I think then that some of these extra discontinued remnant files sitting in my Oblivion folders may have been part of my problem. Thus, I had to do a little better clean up job as far as the mod issue was concerned.

Then the second course of action was that I had to go back to a older previous game save prior to my entering the Great Oblivion Gate in order to get the Great Sigil Stone. So when I did these two things; doing a better clean up job on non-used mods and then going back to a earlier game save, this resolved the issue.

It's nice when all that is needed is a little prod in the right direction, and the questioner then proceeds to work out the issue on their own.

Well done, and have a kudo.
