Hoamaii
Hi guys, Anybody can help me find the right way to back up Skyrim 1.8 before going online with Steam and letting it update to 1.9? "Skyrim Unplugged" doesn't seem to be working with latest Steam Clients Updates and my main concern is being able to return to 1.8 offline in case 1.9 screws up my modded game. Many thanks in advance to whomever can help me :)
VictoriaG
Well I have a copy of the game at 1.8 on another drive, when I reverted back from 1.9 to 1.8 as far as I could tell the patch had updated these files so you could perhaps just take copies of these: In the main Skyrim directory: TESV.exe Update.esm Update.bsa Skyrim - Misc.bsa In Strings folder: Skyrim_English.DLSTRINGS Skyrim_English.ILSTRINGS Skyrim_English.STRINGS Update_English.DLSTRINGS Update_English.ILSTRINGS Update_English.STRINGS
Hoamaii
Thanks VictoriaG :) I will try that. Once you've copied these to another drive, were you able to launch 1.8 again from the original drive after overwriting updated files with the backed-up ones or do you need to launch it from the drive where you put your back up? (sorry for the "strange" English... not my native language). Many thanks again!
VictoriaG
I am able to play the game as normal with the game reverted back to 1.8, you should note however that saves made with 1.9 will not work with 1.8.
Hoamaii
I just backed up the files you said in another partition - I was just unsure about the .exe, sometimes copying an .exe around makes it unlaunchable. And yeah, about the saves made with 1.9, it sure makes sense you cannot reopen them when back to 1.8. I'll cross my fingers, hold my breath, and launch Steam online now... ;) Thank you very much again, VictoriaG.
