Any solution to this problem will most likely require an in-depth explanation that assumes I don't know the first thing about what I'm doing. I downloaded Qarl's Texture Pack V3, installed it via OBMM with zero issues. Even earleir today when I was playing, it worked fine. But I just logged back on again a few minutes ago and the mod randomly stopped working. I deleted it from the OBMM folder and navigated back to my downloads directory and started the installation process from scratch by extracting the OMOD again, running it thru OBMM, etc. Again, it does not work. One recent thing I tried doing that could have potentially triggered this debacle is putting in the console command player.additem for Glow Dust; it said error something or other, script not found, and I wrote it off as whatever. I found some directions somewhere for fixing this by navigating into Archive Invalidation in utilities. But the directions must have been for an older version of OBMM because it told me to click "Directly Edit BSA" and there is no option for that; the closest thing there is to that is "BSA alteration". I also have the Natural environment/weather mod, and that was installed prior to installing this texture pack. In the course of the initial installation, some files had to be overwritten that the Natural environment mod had put in. So please, can someone help? And again, if you want to be helpful, don't assume I know anything and explain like I'm 5 years old. I'm running Win7 64 bit. Hickory Posted March 25, 2013 Share Posted March 25, 2013 The first thing you have to learn is to NOT use OBMM for anything (and I mean ANYTHING) other than installing and uninstalling OMODs by double clicking on them, for extracting bsa files, and for creating OMODs. You have borked your bsa archives by using the outmoded alteration method. OBMM, by default, uses bsa redirection, the currently accepted method for archive invalidation. Being a complete novice, your best bet now is to uninstall and re-install Oblivion to revert the bsa archives to their original state, and do NOT, under any circumstances, listen to anybody who tells you to use OBMM to do anything other than the tasks set out above -- OBMM is useless at anything else, period. Xreva Posted March 25, 2013 Author Share Posted March 25, 2013 I just did a fresh install and now I'm using NMM. I downloaded the mod, but when I double click it in the mod list and the progress window comes up saying "Preparing Mod," it does nothing. Striker879 Posted March 25, 2013 Share Posted March 25, 2013 Number one thing to get taken care of is to get the game installed in the correct location. I'm going to guess your original install was in C:\Program Files (x86) or C:\Program Files and you are running either Windows 7/8 or Vista. If I'm correct in my assumption use Bben46's Oblivion reinstall procedure to get the game properly re-installed in C:\Games. If you use the Steam version of the game don't miss the link near the top of the page about moving your Steam install location, and don't skip the registry cleaning step ... it's important. To get the correct method of Archive Invalidation implemented using OBMM click on the 'Utilities' button and from the dropdown select 'Archive invalidation'. In the Archive Invalidation dialogue click on 'BSA Redirection' and leave everything else at default. If you use the Steam version of the game click on 'Reset BSA timestamps' near the bottom of the dialogue window (for some reason Steam will change the dates of the vanilla game's BSA files to a recent date, which makes replacer mods like Qarl's 'older' than the vanilla BSAs so the game will render the old textures even though BSA Redirection is properly implemented). Close the Archive Invalidation dialogue and close OBMM (it doesn't commit changes until you close). Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
