ViningC
So, I'm suposed to tell you a little about myself, am I? Hmm, where to start, when to start? Let's see, I started my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering but was terrified of computers. Fortunately for me, I had to take a required computer programming course my second semester. After a couple of weeks my friend and I were about a month ahead of the rest of the class. We would always show up for class but would sit there and heckle the Professor, ask (we thought) embarrassing questions, or pretend to sleep. The Professor would heckle back, ignore us, and sometimes throw chalk at us to "wake us up". It livened the class up no end. Sometimes he would simply dismiss us but other times he told us we needed to stay because he was fairly sure we hadn't yet run into the material he was to cover that class. Our next semester, the Professor teaching the follow on course found out we were in it. We ended up grading homework and teaching parts of the class! I was getting my degree as part of a military commissioning program which was supposed to take 4½ years. I finished up in 3 years with a (just barely) 3.0 GPA. Wish I hadn't had to but was facing an age limit. I had to be no more than 27½ upon commissioning to get the program I wanted ... I just made it but had to take 28 semester hours one semester (while working 3 part-time jobs!) and 12 semester hours one summer. Ah to be young again. After we became "addicted" to computers, we started exploring the interactive terminals and found some games. We started out by simply making the games work but then started improving and expanding them. By the time I graduated, the computer center was using our games as part of an introduction to new computing students. I graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science instead of a BSEE because I wanted something that indicated my "specialization" in computer hardware and software. Wish I had kept the original BSEE because ... Much later (1989) I got my Master in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins only because my wife forced me to take the last two required courses. I started taking courses simply because they were teaching something I was interested in, not with the idea of getting a Masters. When I ran out of "interesting" courses, I was only two shy of a full degree. I have written games for my own enjoyment and relaxation ever since and played others games for the same reason. I have helped to Beta test a few fairly recent games and was even given recognition in one of the games by the developers. If you ever play Sacred 2, look for "Spock's Grave"; Spock is the username I usually prefer. I think that is probably too much already, so let me hear from some of the other members about how you got interested in computers and/or gaming. Edited March 29, 2013 by ViningC
SpockST
And now I also get to tell you that the above account will be going away because I had forgotten I had this one when I (re)registered with it. All the above information applies to this account too ... I think ...
