  1. I did keep all the installation files but a search of the file contents doesn't bring up the file in question. I don't yet know how to do either of those actions. :(
  2. I was installing some Mods and found the titled file as one of the activated Mods but it has no description, no author, and no other information that would make me feel comfortable allowing it to load when I play Skyrim. If anyone knows what this file is, I would appreciate a link to the original download file so I can see what it is supposed to do. Of course, if it is not a valid Mod, I would appreciate knowing that as well so I can completely remove it from the list of Mods rather than just unchecking it.
  3. Unfortunately, that is not anywhere near an accurate statement. There is no "Freedom of Speech" in a forum. The only "rule" that applies is the golden rule; "He who pays the gold, rules." In other words, someone is paying to keep this forum online. They have the right to require anyone who wishes to join and interact on their forum to meet whatever standards they set down. I have found though, that most successful fora usually set broad "guidelines" and interfere as little as possible. When I register for a new forum my preferred usernames are "Spock" and "SpockST" in that order. Both were denied to me so, at the time, I "assumed" that someone else had taken the usernames. Just now I did a quick search for forum members with those usernames and wasn't able to find any. Does that mean that the usernames have been banned for some reason? If so, I am a bit disappointed as I think my reasons for wishing to use the username is valid … but then again, I have learned in my few years on this planet to live with disappointment. Now I'm just curious. The responses seem to be going all over the place with discussions about the difference between flaming and trolling and then on to one-liners being Spam, etc. I think I should stop here except for one last comment. In one of the forums I frequent, we don't use "Thread Necromancy", we call it "Necro-posting". Somehow, to me, it seems to make more sense that way. BTW, reading all the posts from 29 October 2003 until 08 March 2013 took a bit of time! [Added - don't want to bump ;)] OK, it appears that I am in fact also SpockST. No wonder it wouldn't allow me to create a new account with that username. In view of the discussion here, I have submitted a request to combine these two accounts under the SpockST username. If that is not possible, then I have asked for this (new) account to be banned and I will continue on with the old one. Sorry for being such a pain ...
  4. Great! At least I fit into one of the categories!!! http://pctalk.info/forums/images/smilies/icon_vulcan.gif
  5. Don't let your current lack of skill stop you. Each and every one of us had to start somewhere. I would highly recommend you get the PC version of Skyrim if you want to mod, as I have no idea how you would go about doing so on the xBox (I refuse to help contribute to Bill's growing Gross National Product!) but that's just my personal opinion and may not actually be the best way to go. Wait until you hear from several other people, hopefully including some actual Modders, before you make that fateful decision as to which platform you will use. :)
  6. So, I'm suposed to tell you a little about myself, am I? Hmm, where to start, when to start? Let's see, I started my undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering but was terrified of computers. Fortunately for me, I had to take a required computer programming course my second semester. After a couple of weeks my friend and I were about a month ahead of the rest of the class. We would always show up for class but would sit there and heckle the Professor, ask (we thought) embarrassing questions, or pretend to sleep. The Professor would heckle back, ignore us, and sometimes throw chalk at us to "wake us up". It livened the class up no end. Sometimes he would simply dismiss us but other times he told us we needed to stay because he was fairly sure we hadn't yet run into the material he was to cover that class. Our next semester, the Professor teaching the follow on course found out we were in it. We ended up grading homework and teaching parts of the class! I was getting my degree as part of a military commissioning program which was supposed to take 4½ years. I finished up in 3 years with a (just barely) 3.0 GPA. Wish I hadn't had to but was facing an age limit. I had to be no more than 27½ upon commissioning to get the program I wanted ... I just made it but had to take 28 semester hours one semester (while working 3 part-time jobs!) and 12 semester hours one summer. Ah to be young again. After we became "addicted" to computers, we started exploring the interactive terminals and found some games. We started out by simply making the games work but then started improving and expanding them. By the time I graduated, the computer center was using our games as part of an introduction to new computing students. I graduated in 1976 with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science instead of a BSEE because I wanted something that indicated my "specialization" in computer hardware and software. Wish I had kept the original BSEE because ... Much later (1989) I got my Master in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins only because my wife forced me to take the last two required courses. I started taking courses simply because they were teaching something I was interested in, not with the idea of getting a Masters. When I ran out of "interesting" courses, I was only two shy of a full degree. I have written games for my own enjoyment and relaxation ever since and played others games for the same reason. I have helped to Beta test a few fairly recent games and was even given recognition in one of the games by the developers. If you ever play Sacred 2, look for "Spock's Grave"; Spock is the username I usually prefer. I think that is probably too much already, so let me hear from some of the other members about how you got interested in computers and/or gaming.
  7. What Operating System and version are you using? Windows XP, SP3 What browsers and versions have you tried? Firefox 19.0 Are you running any browser plugins that might be blocking cookies or JavaScript like AdBlock or NoScript? Yes but I made sure Nexus was not blocked. What anti-virus software and version are you using? Norton Security Suite What firewall are you using? Windows default Have you tried to login on a different computer? No What URL / Link are you having a problem with? http://forums.nexus.com/ What is the exact error message being displayed? No error message, I never received my confirmation email. I am using gmail for my email for this forum and waited more than 10 minutes for the confirmation but it never came. I even checked the Spam folder but nothing was there. The only reason I'm posting this is because I finally managed to resolve the problem on my own and thought others might find the information useful. I was able to login to the forum but not post. I then found a link that allowed me to have the forum resend the verification email (sorry, didn't copy the link). I asked it to resend and got the email right away and was able to finalize my registration. Now it looks like you guys are stuck with me! ... at least until one of the Admins or Moderators gets tired of me.
