szupercso
Wasn't much of a flame-fest. I believe the point was "What should people get out of this?"Why should we cut people slack if they don't think before they post/act? Think about it before you post it, otherwise you're not contributing to anything useful. Either way, Runescape is a horrible game. Thankfully, this person is smart enough to know some of its lore, but what good does that do? It's a horrible game, and to get any enjoyment out of it, you have to "go members" and pay them. Sure, you can play free, but that gives you next to nothing to do. They only update things for members accounts anyway. The game is frequently auto'd (autobots), and has no useful lore that people put to use. With a game series like The Elder Scrolls we have three kingdoms, good graphics, and the ability to mod the s#!t out of whatever we see fit to mod. Runescape is populated by morons and sheep. Oblivion is populated by (mostly) productive human beings. Also, why would you want a massive sword like that? Think of the greatest weapons in the game? None of them are really that extraordinary looking. The Daedric Items are cool, but most people wouldn't go around getting all of them if they cared about immersion. I personally try to create characters that are strong, but not great looking with their equipment. I mean, what would be wrong with having a full steel set of armour and a silver battleaxe, or mixed and matched stuff, showing you to be a real wanderer. Or even better, walking around in robes and setting stuff on fire? No. People have to constantly put in big spiky weapons that, in real life, would be ineffective. They wouldn't work the way you'd think. Chances are, the person would get a small cut from a spike, and the rest of the sword would bludgeon them a bit. Be happy with ordinary things. And Runescape fails.I know that Oblivion is not equal to Runescape, and never will be. Without actually trying membership you can't say much about the game though. You should be happy Jagex lets you play a part of their game for free. Look at World of warcraft. The trial is not equal to endless free to play. About "thinking before posting"... did YOU actually think before you posted your reply? Your first sentence says there isnt much flaming here, yet you still flame runescape.I have written in my first post "no hateful comments please" yet you still speak about runescape being rubbish.Sure the community is not the best but you can't say its all played by sheep and morons!I'm pretty sure the Oblivion community has its idiots too, so don't try to make it appear godly compared to runescape's. I noticed you mention graphics. Who cares about graphics? I don't care much. A game with better graphics doesn't make the game itself better than another, gameplay is the key. Games are meant for having fun (and as long as i have fun playing runescape, the game has fullfilled its purpose) if i think swinging a huge sword being fun, then it's correct. It doesn't have to be realistic! This thread is just a request for a sword, the fact that i would like it based off a sword from runescape doesn't make it unfitting to this forum. If you don't like it, IGNORE MY THREAD GODDAMNIT! exanimis
Point being this person happens to like this sword and last i checked this was a mod request forum not a Flame fest... Personaly i think you should all be as possitive as possible, not a grade a negative nacy. This person is pretty new to the community, cut him/her some slack. I apologize if my post appeared to be negative. I wasn't trying to cut him down, just stating my opinion that swords are boring and that it's hard to get a modder interested in making it. If the sword had something unusual about it, if it was something new that no one had ever seen it might stand a better chance of getting made. If the design of it were his own original work, it would stand a better chance. I agree that everyone needs to cut him some slack, attacking him, his request or the game runescape is carrying things a little too far. I played runescape myself for a while but I really don't care for MMO's. I prefer Oblivion because of the mods. With the mods available, we can make the game what we want and if someone wants a big sword, they should have it.
Naminea
If this sword was made, it would add something new to the game. So Ha! theres my 2 cents...
zeralesaar
Wow...this is not supposed to be a flame-fest, and yet it's already turned into such. I used to play RuneScape, actually...I thought about requesting one of these, or one of the very few other unique weapons produced by Jagex, a while back. I refrained, however, knowing how this would end up. It's a shame that although we love and encourage customization of the game, we still have an alarming number of people willing to conform, likely just for the sake of bashing what is arguably a fairly poor game. Vincent, when you say the game has no in-game lore, you presume too much. If you spend the time to (grind...) the hours of pointless, stupid quests, then play the older, more engaging ones, you'll find that RuneScape's lore is actually of a decent depth, at least for that class of game quality. This poster's request is simple, as well. He just wants a sword. He didn't come in like some we've all seen, demanding things left and right of the modding community as though its members were his slaves. He even posted a few screenshots, and even if they provide little to work with, they're more than a lot of the requests that have and will pop up here. The blade itself may look a bit...unnecessary, but it's certainly a very unique design. Think of when you say it's a gaudy, rediculous sword, then look at World of Warcraft, GuildWars, or other MMO's. Heck, you could even look at some of this site's favorite swords. Everyone likes something, but not everybody likes one thing. You certainly can't argue that this blade's design is stupid after looking at, say, WoW's Ashbringer, or GuildWars' Fellblades. Who knows? Maybe it will receive a good response if someone chooses to create it. I'd like to at least see something done with it, rather than turning away a new community member with pointless hate. Still, that's just my opinion.
Guest deleted829424
Really. This is going way too far. Why would you flame a game on a Request thread? This person is asking for a perfectly legitimate mod, and yet you guys turn it into a flame-fest. RS is better then Oblivion in some ways, yet worse in others. You guys have to accept that and stop trying to force your opinions on others. I would actually be quite excited if a RS godsword were made. The designs are quite distinctive and unusual, and I'm pretty sure many people would also like them.
