headfullofdread
Long time AFT user trying FF for the first time. Should I be able to force recruit npc's such as guards using FF? HadToRegister
Long time AFT user trying FF for the first time. Should I be able to force recruit npc's such as guards using FF? I cannot, other follower mods I can. Is this working as intended? Read the article/FAQ on the mod page Can I turn any NPC into a follower? No. It's potentially game breaking if you make some quest-involved NPC your follower, or enemies, or monsters. I realize that this or that follower manager has it but I just don't feel its a good idea to add potentially game-breaking features for what amounts to a novelty feature. There are thousands of vanilla-based followers out there that you can add to your game and it's not like there's a lack of options. If you really want to do this, create a patch to make some specific NPC your follower or use the following console commands when targetting them:player.setrelationshiprank 4setrelationshiprank player 4addfac 5c84d 1 The above can EASILY cause some kind of random issue somewhere, so BEWARE.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In my opinion...I used AFT for years, then I switched to this to check it out.I REALLY like NFF much better, I find it much quicker to change outfits, the companions are more responsive and much easier to customize, the menus respond much faster etc.. I always found it confusing equipping Gear and weapons on my followers with AFT, with NFF, I just trade the weapons with them, and they'll equip whichever does the most damage, for Outfits you select I want to change your Gear (Something like that), pick STANDARD, then trade them the armor you want them to wear, they will wear whatever has the best armor rating. You can also give them other outfits for wearing at home, in town etc. All in all, it seems a lot faster to navigate, and the best part is you can go through all the setting pages in the MCM, and SAVE your settings, so when you start a new game, you can just load your settings and be on your way, instead of having to go through ever setting again. headfullofdread
Thanks for the reply HadToRegister. I read that on the NFF page & do understand potential implications of forcing certain quest npc's to be followers, but the kicker is I am able to force recruit several quest npc's but not a simple guard? I walked out of Dragonsreach with most everyone I tried but not the maid or Proventus, I don't get the rhyme or reason to it. Personally I do like a lot of the features of NFF too & tbh I have more followers added than I'll probably ever use, I feel like I should be able to destroy the balance if I so choose, "you've been warned". I kind of miss the catch up feature of ATF, I might just need to adjust my follow distance or something, always finding myself companionless on cross country adventures when I run into trouble. Where this all stemmed from was a quest npc broke & refused to follow me, trying to force them it would say cannot be made follower, whereas previously they were added to a slot automatically. Pretty sure I sorted that as a conflict with another mod, but that still brings me back to let me recruit who I want and why one npc but not another. https://ibb.co/r37F078 Edited January 28, 2021 by headfullofdread
thumbincubation
Take a peek at NPC Party. I've successfully taken Jarl Balgruuf on a bounty quest, and taken all 4 Greybeards into Ustengrav, to retrieve the horn. Up to 1024 members, 16 following at any given time, full in-game dynamic AI package control from the MCM.

I'm somewhat locked in NFF with the wabbajack i'm using unless I want to drop some mods and patches.
anjenthedog
Try The Manipulator, or maybe Bosse. The first (see lover's lab) definitely has a forced follower system and I *think the second (here on nexus) as well
