B1ackregiment
Hello, nice to be here! I've recently purchased F3:GotY edition off of Steam and am trying to mod it. This is really my first attempt at modding and I must say it's a bit confusing and is proving to be a pain in the rear. So after much research and reading, I'm attempting to install the WSE and MMM mods using the Nexus Mod Beta enabler utility. I've been watching this guy's tutorial: Following him, I've six files to get the game up to speed: WSE 1 & 2 + patch, FOIP, MMM and MMM update. He first shows how to install WSE and I'm fine up until around the part when he attempts to apply the Hotfix patch after parts 1 & 2 are installed. On his video he encounters no trouble, however trying to do this myself greets me with this error message: "Boss_API_ERROR_INVALID_ARGS Master files must load before other plugins". It tells me before I attempt to install it that the file is out of date and would I like to upgrade it, I select no as per his instructions as he's shown exactly what files need to be downloaded which I've done, yet I do it and get the above. Haven't I just installed the master files? I've followed his video step by step as close as I can. What am I doing wrong? I'm going to try to delete and re-install Fallout 3 and Nexus MM, download the mods again and start all over. I have a few questions otherwise: 1) I've read that mods are not compatible with Windows Live, which will view them as cheats, and which is where my save games are. How do I bypass and disable this but still use it to save? How can I use mods at all, or is what I read incorrect?2) he recommends downloading the archive invalidation program manually, not using the one in NMM, and placing the .exe in the data folder and then running it. What's the difference and point of this? I need help and any assistance would be greatly appreciated, thanks! EDIT: just found this thread from not long ago: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/748970-boss-api-error-invalid-args/ But I have no idea how to fix it. I don't know what flags are or what config file I have to edit. Do I need FO3edit? Sorry to be such a newb but I'm not tech savy at all. MartinPurvis
That error message seems to me tells me that your load order hasn't got all of the .esm files above the .esp files. With BOSS or NMM just make sure the .esm files are at the top with FalloutNV.esm at the top like so...http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii174/rhelg80/fonv_load_order.pngAs for Archive Invalidation, I just downloaded the Fallout New Vegas ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated mod, moved the files into the Data directory and ran the program. I'm quite tired, what I said probably makes no sense. Good luck to you though.
MartinPurvis
I realise that the image I posted is neither NMM or BOSS but it should look something like that.
M48A5
From the installation instructions for FWE-Fallout Wanderers Edition "Fallout Wanderers Edition is also distributed as a "FOMOD-ready" install package, allowing you to make your own FOMOD or manually install the file. It is HIGHLY recommended that you still use the Fallout Mod Manager's "Package Manager" feature to install FWE. Following this method will make FWE much easier to uninstall as well." Nowhere in the installation instructions does it state that you should use the Nexus Mod Manager.
B1ackregiment
This is what it looks like in NMM (mod tab): http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z187/rekunta/mod.png Plugins: http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z187/rekunta/mod2.png I try to drag and drop, but what am I trying to do? Move the .esm above the .esp? As you can see from my second pic, they're all esm. All my mods are there as shown in the first pic. I'd try to use FOMM, but I don't even know how to get my mods into the program to get to that screen. This is extremely frustrating. I'm simply trying to make 2 damn mods work. I've looked for solutions, apparently I now need to be able to code and be a computer engineer to fix this. I can find no good explanations on what to do, or even how to begin to fix it. Drag and drop? Open a file? Where do I even begin? How do I change load order in NMM? Don't I have to do FWE 1 and then 2, THEN the patch? PLEASE help, because I'm at the end of my rope. This can't be that difficult.
M48A5
You cannot use NMM to download and install FWE. As you can see, it does not work. If you insist on using NMM to install your mods, you must follow this to the letter
