GECK for PS3?

Not seldom I hear complaints about games for PC aren't optimized, have so much more bugs than the console version and such. The answer to this is easy: Almost any PC is a different hardware than the other, so making demanding softwares as are games turns out to be a compromise question.

The same does not applies to consoles where the hardware is well known and the APIs largely tested to it, so fewer or no bugs shall be expected. To play games at peak performance and reliable way is the sole purpose of the console. They want it so, other way it would just be another general purpose computer and subject to all the troubles a general computer have even when the hardware is proprietary (have someone thought the early MAC here?).

The lower cost of a game console vanishes quickly (at least here on my country) because the title's high price compared with the same title for PC surpass in no time the original cost. It's almost impossible to upgrade a game console and soon it gets obsolete; they have almost 'none' flexibility and lacks sorely easy modding. One buys a console to play it's games the way they are and will be happy. If he/she wants more, so a general purpose computer will be need.

i can just say one thing.

If you want mods, become a PC gamer. simple as that. the console makers are not going to warm up to mods ANYTIME soon. Sony paid EPIC games to allow mods on UT3 and we all know that it really didn't do much. it sold better than the 360 version but the game was so crappy compared to 2004 that it was a total disappointment

And even if another game allowed it it would be the same as UT3 where the PS3 mods have to be organized in a different way. So any modder would have to basically code his mod in the GECK 2-3 times for the consoles. Not too many people are going to do that.

This is why PC gaming is still the best. While the console owners have had online and DLC now for 3 years us PC gamers have had it for the last 10.

So basically your PS3 is never seeing mods, nor is it seeing the downloadable content either since it's PC/360 Exclusive. Sorry but you got this game for the wrong system if you wanted more content.

indeed...

there will never be a construction set for PS3 or Xbox.

bethsoft much prefer to make console owners pay for DLC content so they can limit complaints etc over user created content not functioning properly

Well I think you might be right. But Unreal had it for PS3. So I think it's possible for PS3 to get it in the future. But the chances are slim and probably only for the next Oblivion or Fallout that comes out from Beth on the PS3.
