new user, can't download but found workaround

I'm a new user and wanted to try a stardew valley mod. Nothing would work -- couldn't manually download (it seemed to be expecting a separate program called Nexus Mod Manager (nmm)?), couldn't use Vortex, whatever that is. I tried workarounds I found online and nothing worked. Then it dawned on me that maybe it thinks I have nmm installed. I looked at the download link when using the Vortex option and it had "&nmm=1" at the end. So I changed the 1 to a 0 and tried again and bam, it worked? I now have a download, at least. Now to learn how to make it run.

 

Anyway, maybe this needs some work so I thought I'd share. New users like me have no idea what nmm is and only find out because nothing on the site works without it. Thanks for reading.

USe MANAUL DOWNLOAD if you're not download with the Mod Manager called VORTEX, the reason the site "thinks" you have Vortex installed is because you clicked the "MOD MANAGER DOWNLOAD"
