SkyrimCustom.ini file -- Does it work?

To all playing with the INI stuff i did some work on this and if ya want to use the massive "saveINI' ini then this is what ya need to know.

Using SAVEINI in the console will create a massive (43KB) file with every setting that the ENGINE uses (not necessaarly all just for skyrim) and it IS saved to your DATA folder and it gets the name of the last loading plugin in your load order. Did this yesterday and got a "ReProccer.ini"...lol (to verify it was still being stupid).

You WILL have a RED logo, (see quote for fix) if you rename that file to be your Skyrim INI. (It will still work if left in the data folder and having the wrong name) .

You WILL have a messed up map snow and ugly map.

If you want to use the file . find and remove delete these lines..(from a personal DOC dated 11-17-11)

Fix red logo

rUIMistMenu_AmbientZPosRGB=0,0,0
rUIMistMenu_AmbientZNegRGB=0,0,0
rUIMistMenu_AmbientYPosRGB=0,0,0
rUIMistMenu_AmbientYNegRGB=0,0,0
rUIMistMenu_AmbientXPosRGB=0,0,0
rUIMistMenu_AmbientXNegRGB=0,0,0
------------------------------------------
Fix map uglies
fMapMenuOverlaySnowScale=0.0000
fMapMenuOverlayScale=0.0000

i have been using the generated INI for 2.5 years....and heavily edited at that. :smile:

Necro-Update:

SkyrimCustom.ini finally works now... for Skyrim Special Edition.

The saveini command is still broken and still arbitrarily names itself after whatever plugin loaded last and then dumps all of the game's Skyrim.ini settings into it, overwriting the existing INI file if there is one (in the Data folder). If you have no plugins loaded (except for DLC), then you get a SkyrimCustom.ini file in the proper Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition location. The game will actually use the settings in that SkyrimCustom.ini file now, but you'll get a red logo if you use the generated one, so best to edit it yourself.
