niston
I've got a part A with a snap point "P-CRP_PowerPole_TBar" on it. Then, there's a second part B with snap point "P-CRP_PowerPole_TBar". The expectation is that part B can be snapped to part A. But: Part A only snaps to itself (when I build several of it). Part B also snaps to itself only, and does not snap to part A at all.Same for every other part I made with custom snap points. They snap to themselves, but never to any other parts with snap points of the same name. This makes zero sense. If parts were to snap to themselves only, how could something like P-Balcony01 ever work? You wouldn't be able to snap anything to anything else! EDIT: Got it to work for the other parts. But not for the pole/t-bar snapping. The only difference as far as I can tell is, they're horizontal snap points.Clearly, I'm still missing something. A magic keyword? Some actor value? What is it? Zorkaz
There's very often a -"dif" behind certain kewords. That's so "-difs" can only snap to their parents keyword snap point... So maybe try and see if it works. Sometimes however snap points have to be apart from each other at a certain distance. That's why you can't add functioning snap points to miniature models for instance.
pepperman35
While I have only experimented with snap points briefly I wonder if the size of the collision makes a difference. I say that because I was working on an electrical connector in which I added a snap point for the electrical line. The electrical connector had collision and wires would not snap; however, when I removed the collision the wires snapped. I saw in an earlier post from steve40: "If you are having issues getting certain (correctly configured) snap points to snap together consistently, try adding the keyword "WorkshopMustBeSnapped" to the object to be snapped." Maybe that will help. The thread is here is you want to review the discussion: Working with Snapping Nodes aka BSConnectPoints (CPA) Edited February 17, 2021 by pepperman35
niston
I've tried both suggestions, adding the -dif suffix to the connection points, as well as adding the WorkshopMustBeSnapped keyword to the T-Bar.To no avail, I can't get it to work. niston
Ah.It's the collision. Snapping only works where there is collision on the pole. Excellent tutorial btw, thanks for that link.
